Depending on the parts put into the tranny I would think that that much power will take its toll on a 700R4 pretty quick.

If built right it should be able to handle that kinda power/ if built right ie HD servos (corvette, and theres better ones aswell) hi band clutches ect. do you know what part they used in rebuilding your tranny?

Most important thing is to make sure you have the correct TV cable and that it is adjusted properly. It\'s the primary cause of 700\'s going out in swaps or any other modified use. It determines the pressure applied to and the rpm\'s at which the clutches and bands are applied. Obviously if it doesn\'t apply enough pressure when needed the bands fry.
A common misconception is that a Corvette servo cures all 2/4 band ills. That servo only works for second gear. You need a good one for fourth also. B&m makes a good billet set that takes care of both for under $100.
You do have the best year 700r4 to use.
92 was the last year and all the factory improvements are already in it.
I have a stock 89 700r4 in my 84 454 s10. It had over 100k when I installed it and it\'s still hanging in there. I don\'t neutral drop it at 5000, though. No need to.
I had a 700r4 out of an 85 vette it worked well but I was only pushing about 350 ponies.
