Gears in 88 4.3L rear end?

What do you guys think were the gears that came in my 88 4.3L rear end. They feel like they could be at least 3.55\'s by how much this truck likes to spin the tires (impossible to take off in rain with out spinnin\'). Thanks

i think most 4.3 came with 3.08 or worse you if you have the 700r4 auto it has a really low first gear witch helps you spin the tires pop the rear cover off their is a set of numbers on the ring gear you divide the one buy the other this will tell you your ratio

I got my rearend out of a 4.3, 700R4 truck and it has 3.42 in it. I think their a pretty common gear in S10\'s. But mine also is a limited slip so gearing in a one wheeler could be different.

Look at \"Calculations\" in the Rear End section of the Forum.

Mine had 4.10\'s stock



Look in the glove box for the codes they will tell you what rear ratio it has.

GU6=3.42

GT4=3.73

GT5 or GT8 =4.10
