Whats up Forum?

Don\'t wanna sound like a newbie who says shit like \"I\'m puttin a 350 in my truck next summer with my mommie\'s money, how do I do it?\" But I have been chillin\' around this website lately trying to get a grasp on how things work. Anyhow, still trying to decide what engine to go with, but I have a 1989 S10 Cameo 4 spd auto. If anyone knows what a Cameo is, they will agree with me about wanting to convert it to a 6-spd manual. Any feedback on this like how hard it would be, what tranny to use....etc. Preciate the feedback. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

ok well to start with you need a whole lot of crap to do fhe conversin.... i thought about it in my 87 cuz i had at56.. which if your switching to the standard is the only trans to go with... but it requers a whole hell of a lot of work... it\'s much easier to just get a 700r4 trans put the b&m transpack in it and a stall and it\'ll bolt right in... you can use your stock tranny crossmember and driveshaft this way too... it\'ll turn out to be cheaper even by the time you get a trans and rebuild it.... plus auto\'s are much more consistant at the track... no missed gears sure the 6 speed would be cool and fun to drive but it\'s nto pratical for doing the conversion unless you want to spend a whole pile of money

and as for a engine... i\'d just build a 350 and put a aluminum intake and stuff on it... way cheaper and easier than fuelinjection plus performance parts are way cheaper that way

If you want a 6 speed, the LT1 is gonna be the easiest motor to use it with. You should be able to find a LT1/6 speed combo in the yard pretty easy.

Well I would like to build a 350 from scratch, but I\'m a body man since birth, and engines are my weakness. I have people who are going to help me do the conversion, but building an engine would take a lot more time. I have been thinking of taking a few night courses on engines at a trade school. Any thoughts? Oh and how difficult would a lt1/6spd be to install? preciate it.
