ok! i\'ve decided to go strictly track with my truck. i\'m going with the 383 kit. whats the diff. in 5.7 or 6\" rods? which is best for what? another is.. dome top or flat top what is diff.? one more thing.. i have a th350,th400, and a supposily t56 4speed out of a late 70\'s early 80\'s T/A. which is better tranny? i\'m willing to any work possibe.. but dont wont to do work twice because i\'m a dumb ass! i\'m still learing alot about cars and dont want to make a big mistake with that kind of money. any help i would owe you big time! <A HREF="mailto:thankyou <!-- (bigdaddybrn8@aol.com) BBCode End -->

Dome pistons will have higher compression over flat tops. You have to make sure you have enough PTV clearance with them though. Always a good idea anyways.



For only racing, I\'d go TH350. It can be build almost as strong as the TH400, and its lighter and uses less hp to turn. A T56 is a 6 speed manual, not a 4 speed.

The 6\'\' rods would be better, they dont add or take away any cubic inches.....but they do provide a little straighter stroke in the bore. Which frees up a little power from having less bind on the rotating assemably.
