Hello,

I have a 91 s10 that had a 2.8. I have a 70s 350 4 barrel to put in and i was going to get a bw t5 transmission or t-10 from a camaro/firebird to put in with the v8. Some guy keeps telling me to use the stock 5 speed that came with the 2.8. How will this hold up and if it even works. I know the bell houseing that came with my v8 bolts on to the stock 5 speed. If it does work, what would it be like to drive..gear ratios. Also along wiht this use the stock rear end.

the 2.8 T5 will never last. It also does not mount to the V8. The rearend is fine.

Just thought I pint this out, The Camaros came with T56, not T10.

also just out of curiosity, what makes the 2.8 t5 not mount to the v8?

2.8 is 60 degree

V8 is 90 degree

well correct me if im wrong but the degree has to do with the bolt pattern on the bell housing? But the bell housing that was on my v8 will bolt on the t5 from my 2.8 with no problem. So the only reason i can think of the 2.8 not working with the v8 would be the input shaft? And besides the idea that it wont hold up to a 350. Am i right about this?

Most GM cars were available with T10\'s from the 60\'s to the 80\'s. Corvettes used them with a overdrive, called a 4+3 speed into the mid 80\'s. You can make a 2.8 T5 work, but it will not last very well under harsh conditions. You would need to trim the input shaft pilot down.
