I have a bagged 86 s-10 with a v-8 in it. The problem I have is that the driveshaft is too short. Can anybody tell me what kind of truck I can find one out of. If I could just find out the length that would be nice also.

A too short drive shaft is probulby an inch or two. What tranny do you have? GM did make long and short drive shaft yokes for the th350. Maybe a local junk yard would have one instead of trying to seacrd down a whole drive shaft. TO look for or have a drive shaft built \'they\" will need the tranny size and the lenght of the shaft excaltly.

Your best bet is to measure the length and get one made. Cheap and alot easier then trying to find a used one that will fit.

Back to what this says: I would think that a longer yoke will not be good because in terms of physics the weight of the drivehsft will be pulling down hard on the yoke because its gravity is too far from any support. So your driveshaft would likely start to wip wrecking the tailshaft and seal. Mine did this because of a short driveshaft.
