Does anybody have the same setup.
I don\'t have a/c hooked up yet but i do have the condenser in with no hoses attached. I would like to have a/c eventually if i can get my cooling problem solved.
I started with a 4.3 rad and one 13\" flex-a-lite s-blade pusher e-fan, it overheated in traffic. I added another 13\" flex-a-lite s-blade pusher e-fan and it cooled fine in traffic but over heated on the road. I switched to one 13\" flex-a-lite s-blade puller e-fan and it was hot in traffic and hot on the road but not overheating anywear. I got a vette rad and have one 13\" flex-a-lite s-blade puller e-fan and it is cool on the road but hot in traffic not overheating though.
I just picked up a taurus fan with the flush two speed motor today. There is no way it will fit right now. I have the condenser as far insidet he rad support as i can get them.
How have other people with a/c mounted a vette rad and taurus fan.
this is the same combo that I use, the fan is exellent but the rad is a little on the weak side for me but for most it seems fine

\"How have other people with a/c mounted a vette rad and taurus fan?\"
radiator in \"forward position\" inside core support. small condenser mounted between radiator and grill, outside of core support.

I was hopping somebody would say that. Is it an aftermarket condenser? How cool does it keep you.

I\'ll let you know in a few days. I\'m just now getting the condenser mounted and the hoses made. I was waiting on fittings. the condenser is a 12x20 from hotrodair.com. the radiator and taurus fan keeps my truck at 160-170 (160 stat) sitting in traffic in florida heat w/o a/c no problem. I\'ll take some pics when I get it together.

the core is about 5/8\" thick and cost about $120. I took the hood latch off to modify it for clearance and put it back on. The JTR manual has pics. I\'ll try to get some my own pics posted soon.

I just moved my rad to the front and put the taurus fan in. There wasn\'t much space even with the rad moved ahead. Man does that thing ever blow a pile of air. I have a 190 thermostat and my temp never went above 199. I am so happy now. If i can get the a/c figured out i am finished until the next project. A/c isn\'t that important though. It cools and i am happy.
I sure wish i would have gone with the taurus fan and vette rad from the start. I tried to save money and ended up spending a pile on things i can\'t even return.

your cooling problem is very common two things could be overheating you
1-Timing timing can make all nthe difference if your running lean your going to make a lot more heat then normal this happens specificaly in traffic.
2- if your running electric fans continuesly while driving your stopping proper airflow the fan begins acting like an air brake since it was designed to only spin so fast with it off at highway speed youll get way better cooling! fuel injection setups have a built in relay setup that turns the fan on for temp an d turns it off when a sped of 60KM/hr is reached.
if your truck doesn\'t have cruise and its an older truck with the mechanical speedo you can get a cruise box from the junk yard or if you have it and dont need it then you can wire it to a relay to run your fan when the truck is below a choosen speed a few locals have done this.
just some thoughts and Ideas the mini a/c cooler works well you can get mini ones from junk yards made for jap cars.

I can\'t get my condensor in front of the support (everything is forward and setup like DynoDave and Cessilia\'s rides). The hood latch support is going to have to be removed or seriously modified. Also, on a 1991 Sonoma, the plastic grill has 2 support points on the hood latch support..
If anyone can give me advice on how you did this mod I would greatly appreciate it.

i just do not under stand why so many of you guy;s are having over heating problems...even when i had the 427 big block in the truck last year ..it never not 1 time got over 195....i now have a new 350 in the truck..with a new radiator from auto zone..from a 1986 monte carlo..with no fan shroud and a single engine flex fan...and it runs 180-190...sittin at a stop light or going down the road..and it has a 3500 converter...the frontall area of a s10 is huge...i just can not see how a radiator deisgned for a vette ..that has not frontall air area will not cool a s10 ..so whats the problem..

I think the main problem is air flow. Its hard to get an engine driven fan on these trucks, plus with the small engine compartment its hard to get heat out. At cruising speed my truck runs way cooler because of the larger vertical grill, but stop-and-go it runs hotter because it has to pull all the air itself. I didn\'t even try to get a engine driven fan in mine because I didnt want to give up the HP. I had an car that I tried clutch fans, flex fans and electrics on, and it ran 2-3/10ths faster with the electric. If it was my main driver though, I probably would run a engine driven fan.
