well i decided to swap trannies,i now have a 2004r instead of the 700r4,so far i have noticed it does not leave as hard but when it hits 2nd gear you can feel it mph harder have not gone to the track yet but the rpm\'s on the freeway are lower.i have not done a swap that i am tossed up in opinions of new performance http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_frown.gif till now, both trannies are sweet, anyone else have a2004r in their s-10?

I am replacing my old TH350 for a 2004-r since they are the same length.I have a 87 Buick GN with a built 2004-r that I am very happy with.I like the idea of a slightly higher 1st gear compared to the 700 since my truck is hard to launch as it is.The gears seem to be spaced closer together also (less rpm drop between gears).

i like the 700r in my s-10 better than the 200r in my 51 pontiac... my 700 shifts way harder and is way stronger of a tranny but the 200r is better for cruisin which is what my 51 is built for... the 200r\'s are much cheaper than the 700\'s though but esier to find hi perf parts for

In the November issue of CarCraft mag. there is an artical about the GM auto trans guide. the 200R4 is a B.O.P.trans,with the same length as the th350 and a wider overdrive. Art Carr rebuilds this trans to take on up to 500hp!. with the 4th gear at 0.67, insted of 0.70 your crusing rpm is lower.

NO DOUBT!the 2004r will handle way over 500 hp(87 grand nat\'l 3600lbs w/driver 3.73 gear and 28x10 m&h racemasters 10:40 @128mph)that to me is a bad ass double duty car, both the 200&700 have earned respect,i personally changed my trans to get the better OD for more fuel mileage on the freeway. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
