Can the intake & cyl heads from a vortec 4.3 be put on a throttle body 4.3 block? I have a 1993 S15 GMC with a siezed Vortek and a 1991 S10 blazer throttle body with a good motor but badly rusted body. I am looking to make one motor from the two for the s15 GMC. Thanks\'

I would think they would bolt on. They are both center bolt valve cover engines.

But I am not 100% sure though.

You will need to change the camshafts to have the correct one for the Vortec computer.

The problem is the early 4.3 Z (TBI) motors do not have the counter balance shaft so the matching timing gears and chain can\'t be swapped. GM eventually changed to the countershaft in both 4.3 engines. I just don\'t remember what year. My 94 TBI engine had it and would have worked for what you want. I\'m pretty sure the 91 didn\'t.

If you really don\'t care about the cam or computer working correctly, you should be able to just swap intakes and heads.

Why not stick in a 305. They\'re cheaper than dirt and have quite a bit more torque than the V6.

My 93 was a counter balanced engine. You can tell the difference by the front timing cover. The ones on the counter balanced 4.3\'s are taller, the regular ones look more like a small block.
