ok this should be my last question until i get my hands dirty, i just bought the 350 tbi and they guy gave me the silver comp box. my question-do i need a wiring harness from a v8 or will the harness from my 4cyl s10 work? also how does the comp get hooked up? it has 2 slots for plug ins and came with 2 free wires(black and red) but they are not attached to it???? the box is 8 1/2 x 6\" http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I would say that you need the V8 harness, to make things simple. Also the ECM will have an extra external small box on it for the speedometer, which could be missing from your ECM ( the speedo thingy is a small white plastic box on the outside of the ECM) the 2 extra wires could be for that.

Same as a wuffo. Someone who keeps saying wha\' fo\".

I laugh when I hear some talk about their Ford

Focus. Fords usually do.

Back to the thread.

Chilton #8141 S10 pickup manual has pretty decent wiring diagrams in it. I\'m not a big fan of their books because they tell you to take it to the dealer for about half the repairs, but this particular book has some decent diagrams.

IMHO the route to go would be to use an 89 4.3 S10 pickup harness and computer. Alot of guys that switched from a 4.3 run the computer untouched with the 350.

It would fit the truck better than a full size truck harness if that is where the engine came from. In my 305 TBI Astro conversion, I tried both the truck and Caprice computers and went back to the original 4.3 computer.

What is the service number on the computer? There should be a white tag with a number like 1227747. There is usually also a part number father down on the tag. Ignore it.
