I just recently bought this truck *85 s10 blazer with 350*, like last week and i am having a hell of a time keeping this thing cool im in arizona so on a normal day it gets upwards of about 110° i have 2 10\" electric pushers and an alum rad it doesnt stay cool for crap and it scares the hell outta me it has almost gone into the red on me i removed the a/c core to see if that was restricting any airflow didnt help much and i cant shove my radiator back anymore than what i have any suggestions on how i might be able to get a flex on there?

Pusher fans are not very effiecient. A puller works so much better. The best one I\'ve seen listed is the Taurs fan. There is a detailed wiring diagram on one of the posts. Use the search bar for it. That post tells how to wire it so it should cool even in those weather conditions.

I actually have been reading up about the taurus fan and i honestly dont even have the room for that, i only have about 1\" between the serpentine belt system and my radiator I am beginning to think my only other option is to cut so i can put my radiator where the a/c core was and then i may have enough room although i am really against cutting.

If you take your time, check out some of the gallery pictures and the conversion manual you can make it look like it`s supposed to be there http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

theres a few ways of doing it. personally i run a flex fan with a corvette radiator. when i first put the motor in i had the radiator in the stock position with a 16\" electric fan in it. it didnt cool worth a damn. just about any way you look at it a mechanical fan will pull more CFM\'s than an electric will. i cut out the top of the radiator support and put the radiator where the a/c condenser was. thats called the \"foreward\" position. i ordered the fan and spacer from jegs for something like $19.99. its a 16\" reverse rotation flex fan. this was over a year ago and i have yet to see it break 210º. check out my pix, i have a few in there of the fan and radiator. i have others on my computer too. hit me up on instant messenger or PM me and i can give you the pix and some advice on how to do it.
theres 2 ways to mount the radiator in the foreward position. one is to cut out the top of the rad support. the other is to shave off the bottom 2 runners. the corvette rad is only like a half inch too tall to fit in that spot.

you could move your motor back farther too.. I have gobs of room between my motor and radiator, but i don\'t think that\'s normal. The motor is about as far back as it can be, but my firewall is severly modified, not by me. Point is there is a lot of room for fans on my truck, so maybe setting the motor back a little is an option for you.. ?
i don\'t have a serpentine system on mine..

I have very little room in mine either. I have 2 12\" pullers, I had to trim the plastic shrouds on them to clear the water pump pulley. I have a shut off on my heater, a 160 t-stat, and a 4.3 radiator, and I run about 200-210 in the worst heat in traffic. I am thinking about a Vette radiator with a Taurus fan I already have, but no time or money right now.
Also, check my pics, there is one of my radiator and fans and how close they are.

Wow I wish I could say that mine ran that cool. I have a .060 over block, 85 Vette radiator, 160 t-stat, and mine runs at 240 degree\'s (cooloest). I also have a flex fan on front and it pulls a lot of air.

I think he meant 210.

Dr kerry, you have problems. Your engine shouldnt even hit 240 once, let alone all the time.
Did you have your cylinder walls tested to see if they were thick enough for the .060 over? If you go father than you should it will run hot all the time.
Most 350 blocks can go .060 over no problem, unless you have core shift

I do know it\'s at .o6o pver stock bore. The Vette radiator I have is pretty narrow compared to the core support and I think that is where most of the problems lie. If I go with a bigger wider radiator it may fix most of the problems I\'m having. It\'s also not as tall as the core support.

i have my motor in the standard location with the corvette rad in the forward position. I Still cant fit the taurus fan in it hit the water pump if i try and i cant move it to the sides. i have about 4 inches of room. So instead i went and bought a 3 1/4 fan clutch and put on my stock 4.3 fan thats unshrouded. I usually dont have problems unless i sit in traffic idling int 100 degree weather for along time. all i have to do is put a shroud on

You gave me an idea on mine, I don\'t have a shroud but it would help to direct airflow. That along with the Engine Ice would probably help.
I also have a louvered hood and that may help pull the air out of the engine bay and keep it cooler as well?!?!?! I hope so anyway.
