Just thought I\'d let everybody know about an idea ive come up with for the heater box on an s-10. My heater box was beat with a hammer to clear the valve cover. Im going to get a new one and cut this portion out on 3 sides so it is like a flap. Then im going to fold the flap in and weld it there. This should clear the valve cover and look very nice.

Mine didn\'t need any mods either. I have Chevrolet tall steel valve covers and they clear without any problems. Does your truck have the a/c box or a non-a/c heater box?

I have heard that the a/c box some times need to be modefided to clear tall covers. I think it all depends on which kit was used to put the engine in it.

Don\'t ever use

a hammer if you don\'t need to!!!

I think i have very high motor mounts because my motor sits higher than my freinds in his blazer and other conversions I\'ve seen. Also I have the Chevrolet polished alluminum valve covers with the bowtie on them. I used to have a set of billet specialties tall valve covers and they didnt clear. Maybe these new ones will because they are angled at the top. Wont know untill i get the motor in. Im going to do the box mod just in case.

I\'ll tell ya, I\'ve got short valve covers, and there is no way that I could put tall ones on. I think youre right, its the kit. My motor sits a little higher. In fact, I busted my box droping in the motor, just going to glass it over though, good as new.

mine never hit the heater box...opps hold on i don\'t have a heater box...lol...im going to try and get one of those heaters from summit for like 150.00...they say\'s that it will heat a motor home...so i figure that as small as a s10 is that it should work great..

i did the same thing, cut out a small section and boxed it in, i have the Comp Polymer covers and theres very very tall. It would of never fit with stock covers. And my air box is different than most i have seen, it had air but the canister is inside the box where most are outside. I think it was a aftermarket setup. But my new cab has a standard non air box so no more cutting for me, http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
