Do yourself and anyone that rides with you a favor and get the bell tech dropped springs, only cost a round $90 and you can get 1,2,or 3\" drop spring. When you cut one more than 1/2 a coil the rebound and load rate change drastically and it rides like a lumber wagon,I dropped mine 2\"spindle and 2\" spring in front plus around 1/2 \" or so for the v8 rides nice not bouncy and not harsh also have the nitro shock for dropped fronts....can get all of it from summitt racing or Jegs cataloges.......ask around I talked to several people before I done mine also read articles in sport truck or hotrod/carcraft they tell what not to do on springs........

Plus the aftermarket coils have a heavier spring rate to compensate for the drop and keep it from bottoming, that plus the weight of a V8. Also, they are pretty cheap. If you did want to cut them, I would think 1-1/2 coils to start. Better to do too little at first, Dont heat them too bad!

Have you considered dropped control arms? You can use your stock coils and still get a 3” drop.
