Whats up everybody, i\'m new on here, but i\'ve had my v8 s10 for about 7 years (only one of which has it been running) (hey, i was in college for 7 years) anyway, i originally had a 302 hp engine in my 85 s10, that a local engine builder built for me. with 3.73\'s, a mini-spool, 28/10.5/15 mt et drags, th350 with 3000 stall, its best time was 8.77 in the 8th. but after i graduated college, i went down to Houston, TX to the school of automotive machinists, and while there i rebuilt it, and after the rebuild, it made 527 hp at 6500 on 93 octane. the heads that i originally had on the motor were straight plug heads, but the new ones were angle-plug cast iron bowtie heads that i fully ported, and, with the hedman shorty headers, the spark plugs were justall over the headers, we beat little dents in the headers, but it didn\'t matter, many of the plugs still began to arc to the headers. anyway, i now have a pair of long tub hedman\'s that i plan to install soon, and i was wondering if anyone knows whether or not they will clear better than the shorties. any info you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site.
I don\'t think that the angle heads are used because of the fit of the headers. The only time I\'ve seen them used is with OE manifolds. Unfortunaltley the manifolds have the space for the plugs and the wires to fit. I would say you will probubly have to try them or Dent them. Or what ever needs to be done to get them on. Unfortunatley if you damage (dent) the new headers they won\'t be able to be returned if they won\'t fit.
Any other questions, feel free to ask.
Space.

Its so weird for me to hear people complain about angle plug fitment. I have them on my truck with hedmans and have no problems. I did used to burn up my no 1 boot occasionally, but since I had them coated they are fine. And that was only about once every one to two years.

When I bought my Edelbrock heads (straight plugs) they recommended Champion plugs with headers because the claim they are shorter. I think that\'s BS, I never really checked, but you never know.
......... Accel made some \"shortie\" spark plugs, but I think the problem with them was limited heat ranges.

thanks a lot fellas, thats prettymuch the way that i thought it would be, i know that ngk sells some heat range 6 spark plugs that are ultra short, and might just be short enough to work angle plug heads and long tube hedman headers, but they will be a special order piece and will probably take a long time to be delivered.

well, i\'m pretty sure that they do, while i was at school in houston, i got to looking through an ngk catalog and saw exactly what i thought might work, i don\'t know the part number or anything, but i imagine they still sell them, and you could probably get the part number from an ngk catalog, and call summit or jegs or some other parts house and they could special order it for you, as far as the cost goes, i don\'t know how much they are, but i imagine that they are more expensive than regular plugs, even ones made to clear the headers, and that they would take a while to be delivered, but i think that its definitely worth looking in to. ngk heat ratings are colder the higher number they go, so on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 will be the coldest and 1 the hottest. i dynoed with different headers, (no clearance problems and bigger tubes) and used ngk heat range 6\'s, and had no evidence of detonation even with cast iron heads and nearly 11.0:1 compression. and that was houston in the summer time!
