yeah try that, and i am not sure if the 4.3 is a big enough rad. i run a fullsize truck rad. boil your block, that will also help. hope this helps

just a thought but is the fan pulling air through the rad or is it pushing. it is easy to get the wiring mixed up on the fan

It heats high on highway speeds if this is the case the radiator and fans may be blocking the air flow so it does not travel through the radiator fast enough. also try using a single core corvette rad. out of 86ish. air flows through them alot better causing better cooling

How high is ur engine reving on the highway? lack of air flow ?

CHECKING THE FAN DIRECTION SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD POSIBILITY, AND IF THATS NOT IT CHECK YOUR OVERALL TIMING. IT COULD BE ADVANCING TO MUCH. EVEN WITH GOOD GAS AND NO DETONATION, IT CAN CAUSE YOUR ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. I WOULD SET IT 36-38 DEGREES B.T.D.C. MAX. SOME PEOPLE ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET BY WITH MORE. NOT ME!!
Sounds like your radiator might have junk in it. My van did this until finally it ran hot all the time. I bought a new raditator and weighed them both. Old radiator weighed almost double as the new one.

Are there any water wetter products that work with normal antifreeze? Maybe a little off topic, but related.

I don\'t know why you guys love the vette rad so much. My truck ran cooler with the stock 110+k miles 4.3 rad, and I havent\' had any problems. My trucks now putting out around 415-425 hp.
50/50 mix, water wetter, efans, and she\'ll run at 180. Buddy of mine, another V8 blazer, who claims he\'s never had any cooling problems, had to stop and pull over when we were out at the truck show in carlisle. I sat in traffic the whole time, stop and go, probably 20 minutes, ran at 180.
If you 4.3 rad is good, use it. Don\'t waste your money on the vette.

i put my motor in the standard location and used the vette rad and put it all the up in the core support. I had enough room to run mechanical fan even though i had to buy a smaller fan clutch. I wound up having about 4 inches between the water pump and rad. I used the stock 4.3 fan with a 185 degree stat. This thing has NEVER hit 210 on the temp guage and thats with me running the piss outta it. If you wanna keep it really cool go with a mechanical clutch fan. when the truck is below 200 or so they consume little or no HP. thats just my .02

hi zz,
gotta say running the vette rad is a work in progress. fit real well, and plumbed the way i wanted it to. I\'ve got a belt driven fan and two pushers. i\'ll run 170 to 180 hiway speeds...@ 90 degs outside temps. gets to 185 in moving city traffic. stop and go in heavy city tends to get to 190+. setting in long lines i could see 200 210 so i try to avoid real traffic.

I picked up some Engine Ice, which is probably equavilant to Water Wetter, yet to put it in. Just didn\'t know if you\'ve heard of it. Water Wetter and the like are supposed to drop engine temp some 20 degree\'s. My only worry is the fact that my block is bored .060 over stock. I have an 85 Vette radiator as well. I\'m running a flex fan and no electrics up front.
