I THINK THIS IS HIGH MAN, BUT PRICES VARY AROUND THE COUNTRY. IF YOU ARE HAPPY IT\'S A GOOD DEAL. IF YOU FEEL SCREWED, YOU ARE. THAT IS HOW I FEEL.

Thats crazy. Almost $1100 for an exhuast!!! That should be polished stailness steel, and blow me 3 times a week for that kinda money.
Did they give you an estimate before they started?
I did my whole exhuast this winter with a few peices, and an X pipe kit. Cost me $125, but I already had my mufflers, O2, and no cats.

In canada, a 2.5\" dual exhaust system with flowmaster 40\'s is 500 canadian, and thats dual right from the headers all the way to the back.So that works out to like 375 american or so. I would say that you got raped big time.

Bent, hit dry, no reacharound.
I did mine from the manifolds back for just over $400, cat ,o2, cherry bomb turbo muff and buliding a y-pipe from scratch included.

Thick wall alumized exhaust tube. 10 feet stick. list @ 40. tails 2 5\' center pipes, 2 6\' tails, - @ 100. cat - list @ 80e - 160. 2 flow masters- ? not sure? go with your cost of 137. 02 bung list 9 02 sensor - one wire cost @ 50 list 75. misc hangers @ 20 list.
Parts - @ 480
labor 4 hr at 66 hour = 264
an estimate of @750.
The shop I am at does most custom duals @ 400 - 500 with customer supplied mufflers and cats.
The office don\'t like to do custom exhaust, Say cars that don\'t run make more $$$. And custom exhaust waste valuable time. Thats why the price is so high. Generally list price + labor.
I agree, the prices don\'t seem justified. As long as there is a competant \'bender\' there labor gets cut down. More complex systemsd cost more to make too though.

For $1052.61, I\'ll buy the parts, drive to RI, and put it on. Bring some lube next time you go to that place. Oh, and I\'m serious on that offer.

Yeah, sounds a little expensive, but the worst part is that you\'re not that happy with the sound. But how\'s the workmanship otherwise? The sound might get better with time, as the muffs \"break in\".
........... Again, sounds too expensive, but gotta realize the guy who owns the shop ain\'t there for charity work. Like was mentioned earlier in the thread, unless he put an \"ace\" on the job, it might have taken a really long time to do the job, and a pile of wasted pipe. Also, it\'s normal to mark up the price of parts substantially. And, believe it or not, sometimes they pay as much, possibly even more for a part than you might, depending upon the quality and source of the part.

What the Fu_k! After I recovered from passing out from the price,I would have told him I hurt my back when I fell and was going to sue him.....LOL man sorry your screwing.Didnt you know someone with a v8 who already got exhaust done somewhere?I already had my flowmasters and bought the hedman extensions to make a 2.5 exhaust for $23 He done the fab work for $150 w/no cats turndown after cab, its pretty damn loud in cab....they are 3 chamber...Are you sure you got 2 chamber and are you sure he didnt just put on 2 1/4 size pipe...I went from 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 and it made it a lot louder....If he wouldve charged me that much I would have come back with a cherry picker and the title and said here ya go a$$ hole

yeah i\'m not sure if i\'m happy with my exhaust job or not.. The place was highly recommended, and the guys were nice. I was charged $350, and i supplied the mufflers which cost me $103.. He asked what size pipe, i said 2 1/2\".. the inlet and outlet on the mufflers were 2 1/2\". so i thought the pipes would wrap around the outside of the mufflers inlet and outlet, but they have them going inside the mufflers. So all my pipe is like 2 1/8\".... which is kinda crappy... it sounds good and the workmanship is excellent otherwise, but i wanted 2 1/2\" system... I have a used exhaust system that came with my truck that could have worked, but i decided to not use it because it is like 2\" or less. So i paid all that for like 1/8\" diameter larger lol..

Am I correct that you have a single exhaust and not duals since you state \"custom Y pipe). I feel for you, you really were abused. I would go on a public campaign against that place. I\'d publish the invoice in the local newspaper with out my name on it. As long as you don\'t bad mouth them and just use their prices they can\'t sue you for libel. Better business bureau, tell everybody you know, etc. The public needs to know about these places. I threatened to drop a new washing machine from Best Buy off in front of their store with a sign on it detailing how it had been three months and never worked. I even had the extended warranty and they couldn\'t get their === in one sock long enough to get it fixed.

Please give us the name of the place so we will know in the future not to recommend them to anyone in the NE. Be sure to tell the guy at the shop you have given his name to 5800 of your closest friends. With no parts provided and no \"connections\" $500 total is average for your system. I paid that for my first system. Bought a $125 wire feed welder and did the next myself. Finally made a connection with a guy in a muffler shop and had my 454 system done for $100 with my muffler. (2-1/2 dual in, dual out).

My guy charged me $250 for 2-1/2\" true duals exiting behind the passenger rear tire, and a o2 sensor fitting. I supplied the mufflers. When you figure the cost of clamps, hangers, pipes, etc, I can see it getting more expensive. They have a meineke commercial here for dual exhaust for $350 which is just a single muffler and dual tail pipes, Im not even sure it includes the connector pipe from the cat.

Naah, you probably got the 2.5\". Reason it\'s on the inside is that they usually swell the inlet and outlet flanges on the mufflers so the pipe slides inside. Makes for a lot cleaner looking job, and is quicker as lengths aren\'t quite as critical.

If you get something done at a shop and they supply the parts, expect at least a 30% markup over what you could buy them for. It is the way they make thier money. I agree that it is to much for a single exaust. My 96 blazer is stock with 4.3 and I bout JBA headers, Y-pipe, and catback system. Total price was $650. Headers are even ceramis coated and exaust is stainless steel. I had shop put the headers on and they only charged me $50. I put a new o2 sensor on my balzer also and paid $64 at parts store. Anyway never give your ride to a shop and let them just go to town. Always get a written estimate first and tell them to call you before they do anything differnt then what they stated in thier estimate.

Did you atleast get a estimate first ? that way u did have an idea ?? IF not well u will know for next time. Custom exhaust work does cost more were i am anywas. Mine cost about thousand too. And i had the parts so don\'t feel too bad. But if u wanna it done right ur gonna pay for it. Most of all get the estimate first! Well goodluck!

It was $490 including all the labor, two 2.5\" cats, 2 2.5\" mufflers and all the 2.5\" aluminized tubing from the headers back! o and i also got a life time warrenty with the ability to go back to him and have him change anything i want for free!
