How long did it take u to do your swap.???
It took me n my dad 8 days of 6 hours a day to take my 4.3 out Take it all apart and rebuild it and put it back in( Mainly just a new crankshaft, 2 new connecting rods). Do you guys think it is much harder to do the v8 swap??? I will be keeping my stock tranny. Will have all the parts before i rip my 4.3 out 2.
All i need is Intake manifold, headers and oil pan.

If your truck has the 4.3 in it now, it won\'t be that difficult at all. Chevy small block v8s are the same exact dimensions as the 4.3L except they have 2 extra cylinders on the front. So you shouldn\'t have to worry about anything being overly cramped on the sides. In other words....there should be less modifications necessary under the hood to make things fit than would be if you had the 2.8L v6. So since you already probably learned some tricks from removing and installing the 4.3L and you will have your V8 built and ready to go by the time you yank the 4.3L back out, it should take you significantly less time. One would hope anyways http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

That is some seriously awesome planning. This being my first engine rebuild and everything, it\'s taken me a long ass time. Over a year. But i\'ve had to figure everything out, and i\'m still learning as i go. Newest endeavor is getting the right trans dip stick.. 3rd try is a flexible lokar i\'m waiting on from jeg\'s. But yeah, if you know what your doing, then you can make a well laid plan, and git-r-done in no time.

This was a topic a couple months ago. There is a chart of time to complete each part of the task. The link will bring you to that forum.

been working on mine for 10 months only best parts and made sure everything was done right. still not done but it is running. plus some one said that in a 4.3 the v8 goes right in???? i was told you had to use the 2.8 frame mounts in place of the 4.3??? mine was a 2.8 so i dont know for sure but i would find out for sure. also i have an intake and a set of headers that are extra parts. and for the oil pan if it is a 2wd the stock v8 pan will be fine.

I Got a 4x4 4.3. i am getting 2.8 mounts and then the v8 mounts. i heard the 4.3 mounts are real mushy and they cause the engine to sit higher.
