Anyone know of a good set of traction bars to buy? I have been getting some serious wheel hop with street tires on the rear. I see lakewood offers a set of s10 traction bars, but they also offer a set of cheapos. If im gonna waste the money on a set for them not to work I would rather buy the cheapos. I don\'t have a problem with buying the s10 ones if they work. Any feedback would rock Thanks Guys.

I use the generic ones, and they work ok for me, but i have heard complaints about them not working for others. i think some folks stress out about the snobber hitting right at the spring eye, and these do not. but as i said, work ok for me

CalTrac bars or the \"Slide-a-link\" bars seem to be the best, but pretty pricey.

.................. Besides the traction bars, another thing that helps, albeit only slightly, is offset shock absorbers. My old \'82 only has the shocks pointed toward the rear. Ideally, one should be attached forward on top, the other rear on top. That way, in theory, the winding up and recoiling of the rear housing is slightly dampened by the shocks.

............ Most (all?) leaf spring cars & trucks switched to the staggered or offset shocks at some point, anyone know when?

............ I never looked into changing mine, as I don\'t have a wheelhop problem. I don\'t have any traction bars, but I do have a pinion snubber, and a beefed right spring, front half only.

no hop, and the snubber is set 1/2\" from the spring

A buddy of mine from the track had an S10 similar to mine, he ran mid 12s. He had \"generic\" traction bars which were a little short. He picked up his 60 ft. times a little by lengthening his bars so the snubber was right behind the spring eye. He claimed that eliminated the deflection (spring deflection) he was getting from those bars hitting a few? (6?) inches to the rear of the front spring eye. BTW, it wasn\'t too pretty, but it did seem to help.

I used the universal ones for a while, and I had a leaf actually crack. Hard to say if the bars did it, the truck is a 93. They did reduce the wheel hop, I did still get some with stickier tires. I switched to the Lakewood specific bars and it launches better and I get no wheel hop at all, although I still need better tires. I was using M/T Indy Profile S/S, and then some 235/60/15 BFG drag radials.

Spend the money and get the ones that fit the S-10. Wheter it be Cal-tracs or Lakewoods. Those 2 designed them the way they did for a reason. If the snubber doesn\'t make contact with the spring eye, you\'re just pissing up a rope. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif I myself don\'t make enough ponies to worry about wheel hop, so I never have put traction bars on.

Just my 2 cents sir,

Jeff....

Is that thing leaving the line like that in the air with those traction bars?? If so holy s#@t, that is impressive.
