I finally got tired of muscling around the block, so I got a power steering gear box and a pump from the wrecking yard.It only cost me 54.00 with hoses and the belt.It made a world of difference, but it still doesnt seem to be as easy to steer as I would like it to be.The gear box came off of a 88 S-10 but the pump was missing on that truck so I pulled one off of a 80 nova with a 350. Is there any way to make it any easier to steer?Maybe changing pulley sizes on the pump?I was thinking about a bigger pulley. Any suggestions?

i have an 87 grx steering box and a 95 chevy 1500 pick up pump set up in the serpintine bracket with a pulley from a 88 camaro. everything is pretty much the same just a few design differences so what you have should work. good possibility you got a crappy sterring box. if you deside to change it out go with a steering box from a 87-92 Z-28, iroc, 87-88 monte carlo ss or 86-87 grand national the all bolt straight to the S-10 frame with the same hardware with no modifications and then you will have a goo enexpensive quick ratio steering box. might even feel a little smoother?? my blazer feels like i am driving a brand new car. barely move the steering wheel and i am in the next lane.(corvette style) http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Might be gummed up also. I had a ar that was like that and needed to be cleaned. Also, if you are using trans fluid instead of power steering fluid it is thicker and can make it harder to steer.
