Any opinions on these? I\'m looking for a way to have over drive for highway cruising, but I\'m a little scared about using a 700r4 because when all is said and done I\'ll probably have about 500hp at the flywheel, and then I\'m adding a 150hp nitrous plate system. My truck with stock heads (but bigger valves, springs, screw in studs etc.) and a big flat tappet cam exploded a TH350\'s bellhousing. Now I\'ve got a TH400 behind AFR aluminum heads and a big roller cam. I\'m worried a 700r4 won\'t hold up, besides the big 1st to 2nd gear spacing they have. I know the GV unit is a little phttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/smileJap.gify, but compared to a BUILT 700r4, plus considering all the effort saved by not having to change any wiring, pull the tranny, buy a new shifter, etc. for the GV unit, it seems like a pretty even option, phttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/smileJap.gif wise. Plus, these things are said to handle 1200hp, while the strongest 700r4s I\'ve seen advertised (Jet Performance, etc.) can only handle 450hp. Has anyone ever used one of these on the track? I\'ve heard that, theoretically, having the over drive in every gear means quicker ETs because you can keep rpms up in the power band by having more gears. Any opinions or suggestions?

my next engine will have to have a TH400 and gearvendor behind it. I hear nothing but good things about them and I hope be rich and famous some day so I can afford one.

I hear the lower end ones can handle up to 1200 hp like you said. But, they even have a stonger one, thats supposed to be almost indestructable.

The downside is the phttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/smileJap.gif. I think the lower end ones start around 2200 or so.

Sporttruck Mag. used one with their Hemi dakota, with a 727 3 speed. They praised it, and said it\'d chirp them in all 6 gears.

Hot Rod Magazine just had an article about the owner of the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard just having a gear splitter put in. He loved it.
