I just got some dual 40s on my truck, they sound good and all but I was hoping they would be a bit louder then what they are. Is there a break in cycle for em or is it probably all in the motor specs? Im running a sm400 thats basicly stock. Im hoping to have a better thumping cam in her within a week or so. Thanks

? all depends on what 40\'s they are. i had delta flow 40\'s from flowmaster on my monte ss before i changed them. they were in the stock location and sounded pretty tame at idel but were loud as hell when i would put my foot in it?? you might have gotten the cheapest 40\'s flowmaster makes. thats what most muffler shops use unless you bring them your own?? to many choices with the flows thats why i got away from them and started using hooker max flows and they sound awsome.

hmm very possible ill run the numbers on them tomorrow and find out. It does sound good when i run down the highway but at idle it sounds tame like you said. I thought i was getting a deal when he told me the price, but ur are probably right.

I have the original 40\'s, and mine are way too loud! One of my neighbors has the same ones, and on his car they are much quiter. The motor must make a huge difference, I have asked many people and heard many cars with them, and it seems like it varies greatly. I am going to switch to some dynomax turbo\'s to keep my sanity.

Do you have manifolds, or headers? Do you have a cat?

Cheapy headmans and no cats. Full tailpipes to behind the passenger tire. It really varies from car to car.
