I have an 84 S10CC that now has a 69 vette 350HP 350 (really is about 328HP)I had it in a full size 85 GMC and ran 9.45 8th mile on street tires and 112 octane never ran a 1/4 with it.Trying to estimate my 1/4 mile times with the same engine and tranny as before with 3:73 gears and slicks on the S10 the GMC was 3700 lbs give or take a 100lbs and was running 373 gears. the slicks are 29.5 tall and 10\" wide but not wrinkle wall.the S10 is about 3050 lbs I want high 12\'s I hope for low 13\'s I want nothing more than a 13.99 track doesn\'t open back up until FEB 9th and I just wanted to know becasue If I run lower than 13.99 I need a roll cage..thanks

You need to find another track then. 13.99 and under, you only need a helmet around here.

Same here, something wrong with that track.

Thats what I meant. I think you need a driveshaft loop in the 12\'s, roll bar in the 11\'s, and cage in the 10\'s

if i recall correctly.. up here, you dont need a loop unless your running slicks (or DOT drags). Nice to have though.

well here in tulsa oklahoma www.tulsainternationalraceway.com...13.99 or faster you a helmet by rules...and any car with slick has to have a saftey loop....i wear a helment reguardless of how fast my car is...what if the car you are racing crashes in to you...and saftey loop is just a plain smart choice...you ever seen a cae flip over due to a failed drive shaft..it\'s not pretty...and that car was only running 14.20\'s...

You\'ll prolly need more power than that motor you have in there to break a 13 anyway. Not saying its not gonna happen but it\'s unlikely.

sorry for the stupid question, but what exactly is a driveshaft loop

Pick up an NHRA rule book and that will tell you everything you need to know. As for the track you run at....they should run by those rules and I can\'t see unless they just want to cover their butt why you would need a roll bar/cage if your only running in the 13 sec range.

Good luck on your quest.

It is a loop that surrounds the front of the drive shaft so if you blow a front u-joint the drive shaft doesn\'t go through the floor boards or dig into the ground and pole vault the car into the air. Very good insurance to put one in. That\'s why it\'s manatory with slicks.
