Can I go to the junk yard and buy a set of springs that will fit my 1998 s1/v8

What should I buy?

if you want the stock ride height then buy a set of springs for the 4.3 truck or blazer. if you want a little lower stance you can buy a set of springs from a late 80\'s irocZ. or for a lower stance you can leave the springs you have but the ride will be like shit.

Uh, front springs? or rear? I\'ve got the ORIGINAL \'82 2.8L front and rear springs in mine and it rides just FINE. Right rear has a leaf added, but de-arched to compensate. Now tell me THOSE poor, tired old springs haven\'t seen some action... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Up front springs, they almost sit on the rubbers. It doesn,t take much of a bumpt to bang them. The rear is also lowered about 3\" so I need to get the front up but not too high.

Sounds like a good set of late 80\'s \"camero\" will work.

not just late 80\'s camaro. make sure they are from an IROCZ and it still might sit up kinda high?? i droped mine with 4\" blocks in the back and 3\" drop springs for a monte carlo ss in the front. and the front did come down 3\" but it still needs to come down a little more. i might just bring the back up with a set of 3\" blocks and take the 4\" blocks out.

Now i\'m all confussed. What if? The truck had a 4 cyl and I go with springs from a truck that had a 6cly. Will that give me enough lift to keep from hitting the bumpers with normal drivivng? Somebodey help me out here.

Since you seem to be getting feedback that\'s all over the map, to me the obvious thing to do is to get the engine in and running, and see if it\'s OK, and if it ain\'t, you\'ll then have a better idea of what you need.

......... Regarding new springs, the only thing I can say is that: Be careful, because in my limited experience with them, they always seem to wind up with a ride-height higher than what you expected.

yes for a straight up swap just get the springs for an s10 with a 4.3 v6

Engines been in so I know the height with it in and it hits the rubber bumpers with normal driving. I\'m thinking the 4.3 v6 will bring it up enough to keep it from hitting but still be lower than original. The rear is already lowered 3\" so....maybe I\'ll get luck and end up with something that looks just right. If not I\'ll adjust the rear end and be done with it.

The good news is while I\'ve had the engine & tranny out I detailed the engine compartment and the entire under body... looks brand new.

82-00 S-10 springs are all the same. I personally use A/C springs and then cut one coil out to get it down to where I like it. It rides real sweet and have over a 100,000 miles with the V-8 and those springs. As for Camaoro springs? I don\' think I would go that way myself. Just my 2 cents sir.

What luck, I decide to go with the 6cyl springs.

When I removed the springs that were in the truck, I find out they were chopped.

Looks to me like the truckas lowered with the 4cyl before the v8 was installed.

New v6 springs raised the front end....4-5 inches. Now I am in the process of removing the 3\" lowering kit on the rear.

I can only hope that the truck sits right after that.

Front looks like it was built for off road.

By the way how F***ing long does it take to get pics on the site!!!!!
