Does anybody run the Micky Thompson Indy Profile SS tires? I really like the look of these tires but i\'m not to fond of them being bias ply. I want a nice sticky tire for the back, but i don\'t want to run a drag radial. Whats everybodys tires choice for racing on the street?

Whats wrong with some ET streets or even just some drag radials. I dont think the Indy Profiles would be a very sticky tire. They look like they\'re pretty much a soft street tire.

I have heard that the drag radial has a quick life expectancy, and with the limited tread pattern i can\'t see it being the safest tire for use in the rain.

Well i ordered some tires today, i decided on Dunlop Qualifer GT\'s, they might not be that sticky but there wider than the ones i have now. I bought 265/50R15 for the back and 205/60\'s for the front. I even splurged and got some for my 97 also, 205/60 all around. Got all 8 for $450 bucks. Good deal i think, but it helps when your brother works for a GM dealer and gets everything at cost. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I don\'t see the sense in using crap tires for track only pieces....unless these will be used on the street as well? People should know by now that BFGs have a very short life expectancy, but they hook great at the track when heated up good. Nittos have a much better pattern for the rain than the BFGs, and work well when they\'re heated up too. Basically, for life you want Nittos, for all out hook BFGs. Both are still great street tires.

Then again, you can go ET Streets and blow both of those out of the water.

Go ET Drags and you\'ll forget any other tires even exist, lol.

i plan on driving my truck, with few stops at the track. But it will be for the street mainly, i choose the dunlops because i want something that i can drive in the rain and something with some tread so it will handle a corner without the tires folding over.

I drive my S15 with 28-11.5 ET\'s and they actually do pretty good in bad weather. I got caught in the rain the other night and they held pretty steady at highway speed. Tough for them to hook at the temperatures now. They are awesome on the street when they are hot!

the tires on the back of my s-10 are cheap bastards because they\'re my street tires... at the track i run m/t et drag\'s the bfg\'s i had sucked ... when you got them hot they turned into grease ball and i swear i could have spun them forever on the back of my gto... but with these qualifyers on there it hooks really hard.. i really like them for a street tire

Unless you\'re name is Bill Gates, I really wouldn\'t recommend running a real sticky tire on the street. Not only is it expensive because they wear out all the time, but if you\'re going to beat the crap out of the truck on the street all the time, remember that when you get the tires to hook real good all the time coming off the line, things start breaking. Save the sticky tires for the strip. Here in Pennsylvania, I believe that as of next year that even the Mickey Thompson ET Street\'s are not going to be street legal anymore.

I had McReary tires on the back of my truck they are called American Racer now I think they weren\'t a drag radial they were bias-ply they hooked great when you heated them a little, had a good tread pattern, and lasted they didn\'t wear fast after numerous burn outs real good tire.

dunlops are just an all around good tire...all of the SP series have excellent dry traction...very little tire spin if any.

I have to admit that the new dunlop GT qualifiers i put on are starting to impress me, they still spin like hell, but the thing actually hooks good, it puts you in the seat even with the tires spining. They seem to heat up real nice, probaly nothing like a drag radial, but they still impress me.

my cheapie tireson my s-10 hold the road just fine at 160mph... although on the front of my truck i have 205/55zr16\'s i don\'t think i\'d trust them on the front at that speed though
