I have to buy new shocks this week. Any recommendations? Do they have shocks that would lower my ride another inch? I\'d like to get a price on both standard and a decent priced drop shock, as i\'m not sure what i\'ll end up going with.

I\'d prefer to be able to purchase either or through a local parts store, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

I was thinking for standard, i might just go with monroe or something.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

You can buy air shocks -=- Which require air pressure to make them go up, or no pressure of course, down. The monroe gas shocks are great.. are you buying front or rear shocks? My brother had the air shocks, they were okay... and he had firestone bags in the front (older kind) they fawkin SUCKED! dont buy those old firestone bags they are no good, you take a corner and the whole truck just leans to that side.. it sucked... but anyways back to shocks if you are buying them for the front.. u can use air but it wont let your ride go down anymore than the shocks, ie... you wont get much of a drop, if any.. have a nice day http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

should of mentioned that i guess. They\'re rear shocks.

I went and picked up a set of the monroe econo. ones. They were pretty cheap. I didn\'t think i\'d need the higher end ones, but knowing my luck, i\'ll probably regret not getting them later on. I guess we\'ll see.

I just installed some Gabriel gas shocks on the front i got for $12, i havent had a good day to try them out but I will let you know.

P.S. I think the front shocks were original! The seals were busted and leaking and I had to use a nut buster to get them off because they rusted on!

Shocks will not lower your truck noticeably, the spring tension is too strong for them to mke any noticeable difference. Monroe is a nice OEM replacement or you can get some belltechs for non lowered trucks, they are a very high quality shock

Shocks won\'t lower your truck. If you plan on lowering your truck, a set of lowering shocks would be a good idea. The options on lower could be dropped spindals, lowering springs, or cutting the oe springs. OR for a big drop, spindals and springs.

Your choice.

i used the eldabrock IAS shocks. with the 3/4 drop and the shocks it has a nice stiff ride like a vette or camaro. it doesnt have that typical lowrider bounce. on smoother roads the thing rides like a caddy. but it was pricey. the shocks are $70 each any where you look. and the springs cost next to nothing. the blocks i had custom made from steel because i cracked the aluminum ones. good luck. if you just want replacement shocks almost any one out there will give you what you are looking for.
