View Full Version : Couple of suspension questions

OK, guys. I just got done with a long day of rear suspension work. I had 3\" drop blocks in the back and decided to remove the blocks and take out the middle leaf instead, which was supposed to equal about a 3\" drop. Now I\'ve got the old muscle car stance going on. Now for my questions:

1) Can someone with stock ride height get me measurements from the ground to the top of the wheel well for the front and back. I\'m currently at 27\" front and 32\" back with 2\" drop spindles and just the pulled leaf in the back. I just want to see where I\'m at. In retrospect, I should have measured first to see how much it raised.

2) Can you get long U-bolts without buying the whole drop block kit? If so, where. I had to cut off my U-bolts when I took the blocks out, and it turns out I should have tried re-using the blocks. I know drop kits are only $20ish anyway, but thought maybe I could save a few bucks.

3) Will a 3\" block equal a true 3\" drop in the back? Will it raise the front at all? Any guesses how much a full tank of gas in the cell will lower the rearend (it\'s almost empty now)? Will the leaves settle into place at all, or is this the height they\'ll stay at?

I think that\'s all my questions. I\'m sure I\'ll need to re-use the 3\" blocks to get it to sit right again, but I don\'t want it to end up with the back end lower than the first.

Thanks!

Jeff

3 inch block will lower the rear 3 inches or however thick the block is

and will raise the front bumper a little bit

think of it like a lever push down one end the other end goes up

I haven\'t found any longer u bolts at a parts store around here.

And, they want $10 for a pair. I can get a complete drop block set from Summit for under $20

The leafs shouldn\'t settle anymore.

The fronts not really gonna raise up any. Maybe a little at the bumper, but doubtful it will be noticeable.

OK - makes sense. I just wanted to make sure if I put a 3\" block in place that the front wouldn\'t raise 2\" or something and end up with more gap in the front than the back. I\'ll have to swing out to JC Whitney for a new drop block set. Thanks!
