I can get an \'89 s-10 pickup, 2whl drive, 4 cylinder, 5 speed. Does anyone know if that is a 7 5/8 rear end?

if your just worried about the rear end you can pick up one in a junk yard for under 100 bucks, but no 4cyls only have 7.5, but the 7 5/8\'s are behind 4.3\'s and 4x4s...ive heard some good things about the 7.5s, as long as you dont have a huge beast goin under the hood itll hold \"for a while at least\" but if you have the chance you should look for a 7 5/8 rear, but if you say a 4 cyl...alot of them came with 4.11 rear ends...the most common is 3.08...well anyway hope i answered your question

Open up the glove box and look at the option code sticker. It\'ll be the one on the the bottom of the glove box and have bunch of letters on it. Look to see the codes that begin with G. You will find a GU4,GU6,GT4,GT6 these are the gear raito codes. GU4/GT4 should be the 3.42 and the GU6/GT6 is the 3.73 ratio is memory serves me right? Call your local salvage yard or me at work (I sell parts in Minnesota\'s largest yard) and they can tell the ratio. I do believe your truck probably has the 7.5 rear end but it\'ll get you up and runnig to start with.

you get the 7 5/8 in the 93 s10 2.8 also, not just the 4.3. but when you get it in the 2 wheel drive it only has 3.42 in it. i swaped them for 3.73 and it took more than a second of my e.t. well anyways any 2 wheel drive older than the 93 had a 7.5 in it. but if you want just take the 7.5 out and put a 7 5/8 in the housing the housings are the same.
