Hey guys,

If anyone followed my other thread, I bought a new ball and socket style U-joint for the impact and started working on the last nut on the brake booster. Now I\'ve managed to round off the head of the nut, so I\'m pretty well screwed. It\'s half-unthreaded, so I should be able to cut it off under the hood, but now I have two options:

1) replacement brake booster. Obviously the best idea. Autozone needs to know if it\'s a JM5 or JM7 braking system. How do I know?

2) re-use this one, and only put three nuts on. What are your thoughts on this? Personally, I think it\'d be alright, but wanted some other opinions.

Thanks!

3 nuts=wobble in the whole thing, worse brakes.

When I priced mine they asked if it was a BL or JM or something and I have a white sticker on the top of the booster that said BL, so mine was that. Anyway it is marked on the booster.

Mine\'s already been painted once, so that sticker isn\'t there anymore. What about converting to manual brakes? Do I just need a different master cylinder, or is there more to it? I\'m planning on a bigger cam at some point, so I thought maybe that would be a feasible option. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Jeff

On page 9-6 of the \"S10 Conversion Manual\" it says and I quote:

\" There are 3 different boosters on the S10 trucks.

* The \"ZT\" was used mostly on the 4cyl trucks.

* The \"BK\" was used mostly on the 2.8 V6 trucks

* The \"ST\" was used mostly on the 4.3 V6 trucks and this unit should be used on the V8 trucks with automatic transmissions and will reduce pedal effort noticeably\"

When I put in my LT1 I switched out my \"ZT\" and put on a \"ST\" and it was a huge difference. I got it from AutoZone for $97.22 exchange.

Does everything just bolt into place like normal if you change brake boosters? Do you use the same master cylinder?

Don\'t know for sure about the master cylinder, but everything should bolt up the same under the dash, the pedal assembly I got when I switched for the stickshift one came out of a 4cyl S10 and I have a 4.3L Jimmy.

I finally got the thing removed yesterday. I think I can weld a new stud onto the booster and re-use it, which I\'ll try first, I guess. Thanks for the help!

My booster has NL on it. Those letters are not mentioned. Any ideas?
