just wondering about yalls rides, the JTR manual gives some 1/4 mile times and stuff but I was curious about actual peoples trucks. If you had a S10 w/ a pretty much stock 350 vs. a Ford Ranger w/ a 5.0 which would be faster?

these truck can be really quick if you have the money just like anything...i know people running 14s and then people like me running low 12s mid 11s...... so its all about money.

yah, a bud of mine runs 14s normaly in his S10, but now he is in the low 13s, high 12s now that he is on the bottle.

my 85 s10 with a 327 bigger cam and 600 carb runs high 14 but haveing a problem with it hooking to the track.

really, thats impressive, do you have stock rearend? mine has a 350 .030 over about .500lift cam about 235 duration cant wait to see what she will do. oh and i have a posi waitin to be put in. if i can get it to do about mid 14\'s ill be happy...for the time being anyway

schitthed its crazy what you just said...cause i\'m almost in the same situation....i have a mostly stock 350 bored .040 over and a cam. I also have a posi sittin in my side yard but i can\'t put it in till i get bracks for it......i just thought that was kinda weird....oh yeah i\'m also waitin to take her to the track also.

im currently working on a engine to go in my 89 s15 it is a 350 block with twin turbos me and my buddy who is helping me figured mid to high 10s with out nitrous i just started working on the engine but i am hoping to get it done by summer next year i am looking for a T-56 to go behind it and im getting the rear end from mosier engineering and getting the housing from tech 9 so that it looks like a stock 10-bolt it will be a detroit locker with approximately 4.10 gears let me know what yall think
MY 87 S10 BLAZER HAS A FAST BURN 385HP GMGOODWRENCH CRATE MOTOR. RUNNING A FORD 8.8 WITH POSI 4.10 GEARS AND 700R4 WITH A STOCK STALL CONVERTER BEST SO FAR IS ONLY A 13.70 AT 102 WITH THIS HORSE POWER I SHOULD BE IN THE HIGH 12`S ONE PROBLEM IS THE STALL AND NO TRACTION THRU 1 AND 2ND AND I JUST BLEW MY OVERDRIVE. There are several V8 S10\'s here in Whacko Texas. I have one under construction at the moment. A buddy of mine has a 85 with a mild 350, posi, 273 gears. He runs low 11\'s. Where he has picked up his time is in the top end. With a high gear he hooks while everyone else spins. He is a rocket out of the hole. I hope my 373\'s will work fine in my truck. But I know I will still spin. I have built a couple of these trucks and make them look pretty good. I saw one the other day that someone built, looked like they took a plasma cutter to everything under the hood. Looked like crap.

How much of a differance does a posi rear with the wheelspin? and are traction bars worth it?

Oh yeah, and yes, to answer your questions. Caltrac makes some good bars for s-10s, but they\'re not cheap. The cheap $50 slapper bars aren\'t gonna do much. Posi and a good set of tires will make a big difference. I am getting a set of 275/50/15 BFG drag radials for now, the some 26x10 MT ET street\'s for later on.
I\'ve been to the track once since I\'ve done my swap. It was a 350/350 combo with street tires, 3.42 gears, and the Ole\' one legger( no posi)
I only got to run twice, my best time was 14.00. I was also having some tranny issues, and kept it to 5000 rpm shifting. Im now on my 3rd tranny. Have added a few bolts ons too. 4.10 gears and posi are next. I\'m confident that I can turn mid-low 13\'s if I wind her to reline of 5800-6000 rpm. And of course get some traction. Im far far from my goal though. I will have at least a mid-low 11 sec. daily driver when its all said and done.

what is the most direct bolt in rearend that i can put in my 89 s blazer on a budget? I am running about 400 horses with 373\'s in a 10 bolt posi and a700r4. all i can do is roast the tires,275/60/15. never had it on the track. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

A different rear end is not gonna get you any traction. Why do you want to swap? Most guys just swap when theirs break. Try some traction bars, and some BFG drag radials,or MT ET street slicks. And, some control of the line. Don\'t mosh it

It\'s good to see you reading the old posts, but feel free to start a new thread to ask your question. Yes, you could run in 4hi. Personally, I think it\'s a little silly to race the S10 4x4 other than to see how it does once. The AWD setup is much stouter if you are thinking of doing this often.

Dude. You are my hero. I would love to drop in a motor with turbos. I think turbos are the greatest thing ever made for a motor. I will be putting a Ls1/Ls6 into my truck and would like to set it up one day for a turbo. You need to post everything you are going to do. I would like to know what I need.
