Will a 200-r fit in the s-10\'s with no mods really, just like the 350 turbo\'s with 9 inch shaft? Also, why do they make 10 inch and 12 inch stall converters? can any size be used in any tranny? lil confused.... roy

the 200 can use the same driveshaft, but the mounting pad has to be moved back; i\'m not exactly sure how far though.

You sure its a 307?? I thought in 86 buicks were all chevy... Hmmm I am stumped. Maybe it was a 305 in the buick because chevy quit making the 307 in 76.

The 200 was choice in the GN\'s and monte SS\'s. The one in the GN would have a different bolt pattern than a small block, but the ones from a monte would work, considering all those had 305 in them. I have heard that built right that they can handle more HP then a 700R4.

The 200s have a dual bolt pattern to fit B-O-P or Chevy engines. they have 10 bolt holes plus the dowel pin holes. See the Nov. 2002 CarCraft starting on page 46 GM auto trans id guide.

the size of the torque converter changes for the different stall speeds. i think the smaller converter the higher the stall will be.

theres tons of parts for the 200s some gran nat buddies of mine rebuilt theres and got a ton of stronger parts they were running 10s and were daily drivers the biggest problem with them stock was i believe second gear uses a band to hold the gear set and that band would always slip.

good luck

a 200r4 is the same lenght as a th350 is it not? it should work fine but i would personally reccomend a 700r4 just because of the quality.. stock 200r4\'s suck... and even built right they won\'t hold a candle to a built 700r... however they are cheap like borsch compared to a 700r4... performance parts for the 700r4 are expesive... and if he says you can have it for free are you sutre there isn;t anything wrong with it

Well.... Its my best friends, and he has two. Hes doing a v8 chevette swap and is gonna use one. He says it works, but im gonna to a slight overhaul first, see how the insides work first before i install it...but it looks to be in good shape...He says its bolted to a 307, but it might be a 305. Im gonna pick it up, look up the codes, and go from their. If its worth it and looks to be descent inside, ill use it. Right now, im not looking for anythign special, i wont be hard on this truck with v8. Thanks guys... roy

it could be bolted to a 307 olds motor, those tranny\'s were used in the cutlass\'s also, like the late 80\'s hurst old\'s.

if the motor was built by buick it will have a timing cover in front and the distributor will be sticking out at an angle from this cover. a 305 will just have a stamped timing chain cover and the dist. will be vertical in the rear of the engine. a 2004-R is an excellent tranny but i think you might need a standalone computer to run the thing. the older non-electronic 700R-4\'s dont need a computer. i know a 2004-R can be built to handle 400 h.p. maybe even more, but i have seen 700R-4\'s built so heavy duty that they are just gettin comfortable at 700h.p. i think a 700R-4 would be easier to bolt in cause you could do it with junkyard parts since many S-10\'s came with them from the factory but even so if you got the 200 for free i don\'t think it should give you too much trouble
