I have a carbed 355 in my 97 S-10 with a T-56 6-speed currently. I just today came accross a FREE 94 Camaro LT-1 with 80K miles on it. It has the computer, harness, exhaust manifolds, and front accessories on it still. I originally wanted to swap out to a LT1 but did not have the money for it so I went with a carbed 355 small block instead. Well now I have the LT-1 and was wondering if there was anything else I would need to switch or get to swap out the 355 to the lt1. I also have a LT1 fuel pump I am assuming I can just swap out to in the tank. Any and ALL help on this would be greatly appriciated. I have to make a choice in the next 2 days or I will loose out on the motor deal.
Thank You
Will

Anyone else on here put a LT1 into a 94 and newer S-10? I know it will bolt right in place of my 350, but Will the wiring harness just hook up to existing plugs and such? I am going to have to pich this motor up tomorrow if I am doing this. Sorry for the rush, It\'s one of those things that came up and you really don\'t have time to think about to long.
Another thing. I saw on a S10 conversion website that when putting an LT1 into a 96 or 97 S10 the computer and ECM from the donor car must be used. The engine computer controls just that, The engine, The ecm from inside controls the AC, SPEEDO, ABS, etc. Is this true. I am only getting the LT1, harness and computer with the 94 camaro motor. Do I have to have the ECM or whatever from inside the camaro or is there one?
Sorry for all the questions.

Sorry for late reply, you probably got it in already. I have an LT1 from a 96 Camaro in my 99 Sonoma. Ecm for engine was sent to Street and Performance who reprogramed for engine control only. Go over your optispark distributor, if the previous vehicle had colision damage you may what to replace it or change out to conventional.

Thanks, Actually you are not late, I lost out on the deal because I could not find out from anyone a few questions about the wiring in time. Ohh well, I am going to look for another one. So you say I need to send off the computer for reprogramming? Do I just need the LT1, wiring harness, and engine computer to make this work or do I need the computer inside the car also? If there is a certain year camaro LT1 I need to do this the easiest please let me know.
Thanks

You could purchase LT1 edit (ODBI or ODB II) and edit the PCM for yourself. Which is what I did. I did not wire it myself though. Sent my harness from the s10 and the camaro off and had a merge done.

After you got the harnes back was it a direct plug and play? Did everything wark like your factory gauges? Where did you have your harness done?
Thanks

Your guages should work sense its a newer model s10. I had to swap in a cluster from a typhoon blazer cause it would accept signals from the PCM. As long as the guages pick up electronic signales they\'ll work. If they use mechanical cables to pickup speedo you will have to explore a after market dash solution or modifiying the tail shaft on the tranny. Though, if I am not mistaken yours should be electrical signal feed (Just don\'t own a newer S10 so can verify for sure if they switched then or not). My old setup was 88 TBI v6 that had mechanical for speedo and tach. Your guages if electrically signal feed will pickup and show the speed and tach. Remember though the tach reads signals at a V6 setting and not a V8 so your tach may read under what it should. It won\'t be terriably too much (side note mine reads right almost cause the typhoon was 4.3 so its barely noticeable but if you were into racing or running a 6speed you may desire a exact tach reading.). Yes everything worked. Mark sure you have the layout of the PCM where you want it so you can tell whoever or if you do it yourself where your putting it so it doesn\'t get aggravating.
