View Full Version : Why not have a BIG meeting some where??

Does S10V8.com ever try to get a track some where for a weekend for everyone to try to get together meet a just have a big blow out some where. As many members that is at this site it seams that would not been to hard to do (6154 members). I go to F-Body meeting all over the place but i dont have my Z-28 any more. Race for the pot money, best of show and so on and so on. someone should check in to this i think it would been a fun weekend for everyone to get together.

sure as hell would be fun.. but we\'re all so scattered all over the U.S. , and some guys over in Iraq even.. i my opinion, theres not enough members of this site that would actually turn out.. 6154 members is not real accurate. I think thats how many people have actually registered since this site started way back when. Some people look at the site once and never come back. Some lose interest after awhile, etc. I\'d bet theres maybe 1000 or less who actually look at the site regularly. Hell.. i\'d bet it\'s 200 or less.. cuz you keep seeing the same people over and over again..
Anyway good idea.. i think this was mentioned a year or two ago, trying to pick a place centrally located for everyone, but it never took off. what can ya do.

Don\'t forget about us guys in Canada.

Do a reg and see how many would sign up and go from there. When i was doing the F-Body meets we had people from canada and from one end of the US to the other. Memphis,TN as a real nice 1/4 mile and it close to the middle. But why not do a sign up and see how many would sign up for it at like $35 a head and $5 a head for guest that come with you that would be to race to. A so much to entry best of show or audio or what ever..

There\'s the annual SyTy nationals - usually in Kansas City, MO. There\'s only a few thousand of those trucks and they end up with a good turnout. I went with a friend one year and they had guys from Michigan, Cali, East Coast, etc. It could work . . . Just don\'t have it June 18 - I\'m getting married that day. We missed Street Machine Nationals and SyTy Nats last year because of my buddy\'s wedding.

Your never know why not do it one or two times a year in TN one time in IN next time next time in MI. Just move around that way it mite be 100 miles for me this time and 600 miles for you. Next time 700 for me 100 for you. Does no one else have anything to say about this. Lets hear some ideas about this and see if we cant get somthing going this next fall or summer..

Hey, I for one would definately be up for something like this. I\'m sure there could be a pretty damn big turnout, not just with everyone here and their rigs, but for every member here that has an S10V8 there are 10 more people in the country that are fans of them. Get Super Chevy or Truckin\' to write up an article on it, that would attract some publicity. Be nice if we could somehow have a dual purpose meet........have a drag strip for the fast S10s, and a mud pit for the 4x4s. Would also be nice if we could set up like two meets, one closer to the east coast, one closer to the west. I\'m sure alot of us are still paying for what we\'ve done to our trucks and can\'t afford to take the time off to run all the way out to Kansas from the farthest corners of the continent lol. I guess I\'m getting really ahead of myself with all that, probably just alot of dreaming but those are some of the random thoughts that passed my mind as I was reading everyone\'s responses to this. Then again, dreams aren\'t bad, isn\'t the collective dream we have all shared that got us this far in the first place?

i would do it but i really dont trust it yet but by next year i will trust it but if i could get involved into something like this i think this thng will take off just get it going if you ask me will take a little bit but hey what about california or some place like that. hey i would pay the gas to go to something like this i give it a hell yeah. question is will it take of.

ok i gotta ask how many people are there in oregon just wondering the meeting idea would be great. nick

We are the one\'s that can make this happen. If you have friend that have S-10 get them to join the site the more thats in on this the better the odds are it will happen. Write letter to truckin or Super Chevy ask them for some help on getting this going and see what they say. I dont think this is a bad idea and i dont think there is anyone here that thinks it is a bad idea. But all we can do is try.

Great idea... I\'m in FL so everything is a long haul, but what the hell. It would be great to see everyone\'s creations. I think central US would be the ideal location.

I\'m in north AL. I could talk to the local track owner, maybe have something here, but not really a center location, but hey its worth a shot...

One thing that has not been considered is the cost of renting a facility that has a drag strip and a place to have a truck show. I think the best way to keep the costs down is to have an event inside an event. At Indy Raceway Park there is the Indy Truck Bash & Import Nationals. There would be plenty of rice to dine on and there are always car clubs that meet and hang out at this thing. Just my 2 cents.

11-27-2004, 01:26 PM
if that would get set up and done every year it could become real big and famous?? i just read a small article in a chevy high performance that mentioned this site. so the site is known by alot of people even without v8s10\'s. set it up the same time and same place every year and i think it would become real big!!
ZR1BLAZER
11-27-2004, 01:29 PM
do it like the hot rod power tour. registration fees and such, would probebly pay for everything.
QuickV8s10
11-27-2004, 05:29 PM
That is what is said when i started the post. Have a $35 entey Fee for raceing and to atend. And have entry fees for all the events. Sure renting a track is high but if 300 people where come it would be $10500 that would more than pay for the rent on the track plus and the other events entry fee would make some to. And have a entry fee at the gate of $10 per person. And dont have it at the same place if you move around it give the one at would have to drive 1200 miles would be to far for some so next time if we do it at a track that is close to them maybe only 300 miles for them to drive the next year. But it would make the money to pay the expence. So what if the one at host it dont make $200 dollers after they pay everything it would still be worth it..
ChevyKiD_69
11-27-2004, 05:55 PM
where would people pay when they got to the place or what. sounds like it is going to take off. hope to hear more about hits get together. nick
QuickV8s10
11-27-2004, 06:38 PM
I or the owner of the site or someone could pick a place and post where it would be and have a sign up sheet and you would send you enrty fee to that person. in the case to few sign up to cover the cost they would ge a refund. It could work but we had got to get together and make it work. On the first meet there needs to be a big turn out to show them we can does this. And maybe it will grow from there. Like i said we are the only ones that can make this work..
ZR1BLAZER
11-27-2004, 07:24 PM
someone with alot of spare time would have to set it up for sure. i know it takes alot of planning and all. but your right it can be done??? alright who wants to volunteer?? and when. i think mike needs to get in on this.

I think the realistic idea would be having an event inside an event.. like the one guy mentioned. V8 S10\'s are wonderful, but i think most of us love all cars, especially hot rods, and vehicles that go fast. There\'s events all over the u.s.
If this site got big enough, we could have a person from each \"area\" of the country set up everything for a certain event.. like super chevy show.. in different parts of the u.s. So us guys in michigan, wisconsin, new york, ohio, etc. could set up like a mid-west \"team\" representing s10v8.com.. and another team for the east, west, south, southwest, etc etc.. i don\'t know where the super chevy show travels to, but i\'m sure at one time or another it\'s pretty close for a majority of people.
Jimmybeam
11-28-2004, 06:05 AM
thats not a bad idea at all. having a bigass meet at one or two spots in the country is what i\'m sure everyone would like to do best, but setting up a small thing within super chevy or something like that, with a different s10v8 team on each leg of the tour might be the most realistic start to something bigger down the road.

This is something that would bring the s10 community together. This is probably the coolest idea that I have seen on this site yet. I live in San Antonio Texas so anything outside of Texas is a drive. Does anyone out there live in or near San Antinio? Austin?

i\'m in cali and i\'d go! the only other person i know w/ an s10v8 is my buddy in vegas, who got me into putting a v8 in my s10 instead of selling it. (thank god i talked to him that weekend!) he\'s also the one that brought me to this sight. bottom line is, we\'d go! just invite people or annouce it, people will show.

I live in the Dallas Ft Worth area of Texas. I would love to see something like this come together. WE could also have a swap meet. I know there are alot of spare parts out there. I have a bunch of them. The only thing that concerns me is,it seems like every night when I read the posts, someone is having problems with their truck.I get confident in mine and then something breaks and I am back to square one.I think if I went to a s-10 meet, I would trailer mine there.

It iritates me because its used all the time and is pointless. Its run rampid on other websites, and you have 100 people bumping there own thread when it moves down 4 slots.
This website especially doesnt need it, stuff doesnt move off the front screen for days. Bump just erks me, at least make an effort to ramble about nothing to accomplish the same thing.

In Pigeon Forge, TN there\'s the Rod Run event during the Spring, and the Grand Run event in the fall. It\'s a big meet that has a lot of Classic Hot Rods, lots of V8\'s, lots of 4WDs, and a few ricers to laugh at. This year, the Spring event is April 16th-17th. There\'s a competition with a lot of really customized or extremely restored cars, which also hosts a swap meet for older car parts; I think Flowmaster has a booth, Edelbrock has a booth, and a few others I can\'t remember.
It\'s really fun, a perfect place for a lot of us to meet up. However, I\'m not sure if there is a drag strip anywhere nearby. I just thought I would mention it.

theres no track at those events....they are really strictly \"show\" events with lots of cruising.
We need an event at a dragstrip. March 4th at commerce dragway in atlanta there will be a group of 20-30 trucks going to the races, if we have 25 trucks we get our own lane. This is a test and tune session which means its a relaxed environment....ya\'ll should come

unfortunatly i still have gerbils under the hood. i like the idea of truck drag and show, but wouldnt be opposed to just a show. i think a gathering in another large show, where we can all meet up as a group, would be cool as hell. i would prefer a pg rated type, so my children could come. the last major event i went to was 1991 street machine nats, in duquoin ill. i hadmy oldest the next year an only attend local events . i think we should do this, but dont know how to go about setting it up. come on guys. A BUMP FROM THE GRAVE!!!! I went to the F-Body event again this year(to watch) and every year they are get less and less people to show up so i ask them if it was ok if i brought my S-10 next year and they said that would be great....So i am going to talk to the person that runs the event and see if we can have a sign up sheet for the S-10 lover to have a S-10 event with the F-body event sence they need more people at the event so they can keep having it... it has been in INDY the last two year and i am pretty sure it\'s going to be in INDY next year..So after he gives me a yes or no i will let everone know....
