I took my stock 4 cylinder springs out of my 1988 S10 (still has the 4 cylinder in it) and replaced the with some Moog 5660\'s. I just done one side at first enough to get the wheel back on and let it down. They are rated 639# at their installed height, probably twice the original weak springs. Even though they are just a little shorter I had to compress them a little to get them in the bottom A frame. They raised the front end 2\". So I took that one back out and cut 1 1/2 coils off the top and flattened the end. \"That\" lowered it 3\" from stock and a heck of a lot stiffer (which i want). Looks good but 2 problems. #1...the bottom A frame bump stopper is right at the frame. There is not much suspension travel left with the 3\" drop. You guys that have 3\" spring drops...does yours measure similar? This looks good but I can\'t see it working for everyday driving. I am definitly going to bring it back up a little and go with drop spindles. #2...the springs are shorter and are now loose (just barely) if the suspension drops all the way down...i need some spacers to go on top of the springs...does anyone know where I can get them?

When everyone had to have the car jacked up all around they used to make a hard rubber spacer that the spring sat on for more height you might try jc whitney or your local parts store. If you are putting in a small block you will drop a few more inches and be riding on the bump stop http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Before you put your money into spindles, look into the 3\" lowered control arms. They will drop the front and let you use stock springs. You will also maintain the same geometry.
If you want to use the same springs with the lowered spindles, there is a neoprene bushing that is about 1 ½ inches tall for coil springs. Summit, Jegs, and JC Whitney sell them. If I can find them, I\'ll post a link, but look at the lowered control arms.

I said neoprene but I should have said POLYURETHANE

I would appreciate a link. I wonder what would keep the springs from slipping off them if they are that high? And the price? When I got the top loop bent back down on these it left them at 10\"...the original \"soft\" springs were 13 1/4\" ...I would say 11 1/2\" to 12\" would have been about right. I\'ll probably end up changing them back out. Does anyone know the spring rate for the 4 cylinder ZQ8 springs and the free length?
