my boss just offered me his 1996 blazer, 4 door for $1500. runs, drives, and has a new trans. he bought it new, now has like 150k on it. it has all the goodies. his kid has been driving it ( he\'s like 22) and wants something new. i\'ve not seen it, but sounds like a deal. your thoughts? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

That seems like high mileage for a 96, but hell, if you take it for a spin and it runs nice and everything looks to be in good shape.....I\'d say thats a pretty good deal.

Though I should add, 96 was the first year they used that newer Vortec SFI system on the 4.3L engines.....my older bro had a 96 Blazer with the 4.3 Vortec and had nothing but problems with it........I think the early versions just had alot of bugs, or his could have just been a lemon. Either way, I still say if it runs nice and looks to be in good shape, thats a good price.

Well i also figure my boss wouldn\'t sell me a lemon, after all, he sees me everyday, and would have to listen to me complain if he did. we had a 99 jimmy with no issues at all, but it was tbi, not sfi

How about this. If you don\'t want it buy it for me and I will give you $2000. That way you can make a quick $500

Seriously,

Will

I appreciate the offer, but i really need it. i drive 100+ miles a day, and have a 89 s10 with 270k on it. so you can see my predicanent. if i decide to pass, i\'ll give you his info.

if it runs nice and the engine\'s in good shape i guess it\'s ok. seems like you\'d be better of with a low mileage vehicle though.

I have a 96 4wd blazer with 4.3 and have not had any trouble with it except replacing front brake pads more often then I should have to. But that is common with the s10 and thier screwed up front brake bias.

My daughter had a 96 S10 Blazer 4WD. The only problem she ever had was a fuel pump at about 100,000 miles. I\'d say if it runs OK, it\'s a good deal for that money. Just keep in mind that 150,000 miles is a lot. If you only get 30 to 50K more on it, it\'s cheap miles for $1500.
