im using patriot headers on a 1997 s10 2wd,
engine is mounted as high as possible.
but the steering column is rubbing on the no. 5 exhaust pipe,
whats the easiest way to lower the column?
or are there any other options
thanks

I had the same problem. The thing that helped me the most was I changed motor mounts. I ordered the mounts from JTR. It still touched, but not nearly as much. The second thing I did was have my brother make stainless shims to place between the motor and the mount. That gave me the room I needed for about 3/8s clearance.

if you had your body off check to see if the mounts are tight , my clearence problem was the opposite i added a 1/4 shim to each mounting point

i wonder if a few hardened steel washers would work?

That is what I did. I was talking about the conversions mount and the block.

I would not use washers. You should have something that has enough surface area for the block to sit flat to the conversion mount.
Edit: watch your pinion angle.
