yeserday i was went out to my parents house with my s10 and noticed the temp up to about 220 well i let it cool off. well when it is that hot it is knocking pretty good. when its cold it doesnt do it. could it be the oil breaking down or whats the deal. i have no idea. i changed the oil in it not even 50 miles ago so i have no clue. if someone could help me out that would be great.

the engine is detonating from being too hot.

go with another thermostat, about a 180 degree. bigger fans?? bigger radiator? better water pump?? there are a few different ways.

turn your timing back or use race gas

pass side retard, driverside advance.

counter clockwise retards it , clockwise advances. too advanced will have great throttle response lacking on topend horsepower. i\'ve seen .4 gaines in 1/8 by retarding timing

it was if i remember right it was 25 at an idle then it goes up like it is supposed to so i heard it could be a couple different thing but wild85 made a couple good points.so i think the thermostat could be sticking for one. not enough fan. i was thinking of fatting it up a little bit. and trying running higher octane gas. so i have a couple of ideas on what to do if anyone has anymore ideas of what it might be let me know please. nick

ok, just tryin to rule out a bottom end bearing or rod knock.

it kinda sounds like a rod bearing to be what it sounds like so i have no idea iam getting tired of it. i have to go out to the street to change the oil in it to see if theres any metal shavings in it. this sucks.

hey guys i found out why it was knocking when it warmed up. you will be amazed why the mains didnt knock either. all bearings where showing copper the rods where starting to show a little bit but in other words it is all f**ked up imagine that. the cylinders look great. but now we all know why it was knocking and for you guys going to ask was the bottom end new when it was put together. yes it was i have no clue why it did what it did now guess what time to build my 377 it will have about almost 500 horses i cant wait now that the 350 went to crap. oh well it is life i\'ll get over it. nick

Had the crank been turned when you put in the new bearings?

yeah i did. i might have gotten screwed on the crank because it was supposed to be a 20 20 crank. the guy who i got it from went out of business because he also had quite a bit of motors come back on him also. so if you ask me i think i got screwed on it but iam going to check today. but yes it was supposed to be. if was not a 2020 iam going to ask him for another good crank its not right. what do you guys think. nick
