hi I was wondering if anybody knows much about these two bikes? I checked yamaha.com but thats all the 05\' stuff.

The reason i am asking is somebody is wanting to trade a 97\' r6 or a 96 r1 for my 2004 yamaha warrior. so i was just wonderin

well if you want a street bike they are both bad ass. but of course the r6 is a 600 and the r1 is a 1000. so how big a bike you want? i have a freiand that has a r6 and he is big into bikes. he said that the smaller bikes handle better. but for all out raw power the 1000 is better. so now you just need to figure what you want out of a street bike. hope this helps a little. i know there is a guy on here thats into bikes. i am sure he will have something to say when he sees this.

If you havent ridin that much go with the R6, the R1 is for more experienced riders. Ive had a crotch rocket for about a year or so and its a 2001 suzuki 600 and I still only trust myself with that much power. The R1 is loaded with almost too much power. It will throw a wheelie in any gear and practicly at any RPM.

in 96 i pretty sure that would be a fzr 1000 or yzf 600r if it is a r6 or r1 both bikes are nice. just make sure no salvage title, but if you don\'t care. my expereince with warriors that i\'ve never seen one worth more that $ 1000. not trying to be a disrespectful

the r6 is smaller and handles better, the r1 is faster and for more experienced riders, so if your very experienced go with the r1, but it dependson your size to. when i went in to look at a GSXR the guy told me i\'d have to be able to pick it up off the ground. so if your not tht big go r6, there about 400 pounds, my friend just dropped his last night and its a good thing his was a 600 or i don\'t know how we were going to get it in my s10. so just a thought

Thanks for the input i have no experience on a street bike at all. Ive rode dirt bikes but thats totally different so if i do trade i will probably get the R6. both of the bikes have a clear title, and Mark... after owning a warrior they arent too bad but they do lack bottom end but this was my 1st 4 wheeler so it was good enough for me

If I am not mistaken, the 97 600 would be a YZF 600. I bought one new in 97. They came in black/silver or white/blue. VERY comfortable bike and really a good one for a beginner. I think the R1 came out in 98, then the R6 came out in 99. Only one year did they have the YZF 1000, and that was 97. Before that, they would all be FZR\'s with the old DeltaBox technology. Pretty cool looking bikes, but way outdated by then.

Any of them would be a fair trade for a Warrior in my opinion. Check Cycle Trader to see what the selling prices for the bikes is when you ever figure out what year they are.

BTW, I am on my 16th bike. I have had them all. Three different ZX12\'s and a HayaBusa over the last few years. WEAR GEAR to include a helmet, gloves, boots, jacket, and at least Draggin Jeans. Leather is LOTS cheaper than skin.........

Good luck
