how well will a 700R and a early 350 engine hook up? I\'m looking at a new 4bolt 350 with less than 300 HP going into my 93 S10. I have the 7 5/8 inch rear end I plan to keep for a while unless it pops. I\'ll cross that bridge when time comes.. Was thinking of the TH350 but now having second thoughts due to clearance through the tunnel.

i\'ve got a 86 350 block...bored .030 with a lunati 3.5 inch crank, flat tops, probe forged I beam rods, edelbrock e-tec 200 heads with a .490 lift cam... i\'m probably making about 450hp... and thats quite conservitive...prbably a lot more and i have it infront of a 92 700r out of a camaro... i put a b&m trans pack in it with a 2500 b&m stall and astage 2 shift kit.... i love it... i run about 1900 rpm on the highway but without the stall it would probably be right around 1500 (3.08 gears) a 700r should handle 300hp no problem in stock form... and it\'ll work with your stock crossmember and driveshaft if your truck originaly had a 700r in it which it most likely did, switching to the th350 will require a different trans crossmember and driveshaft... the 700r is a great tranny as long as it\'s set up right... don\'t forget the kickdown cable (tv cable) it\'s a very very important peice on the 700r it controlls all of the shifting characteristics for it... without it it will shift instantly when you rug it and it\'ll hit 4rth gear before you even know it and it\'ll wreck the tranny in no time... i have mine set to shift at 6300rpm... you can adjust it by setting the spring... it\'s quite easy... i\'d never switch to a 3 speed now... as for how wel it hooked up... very very simple... just like a th350... but no matter what engine you put in your going to have to pound your firewall back.. i didn;t and it was a pein in the ass putting the trans bolts in when i changed my engine... and it made it tough to put exhaust onto it too if you pound the firewal in where the exhaust dumps down and all the way around the bellhousing of the tranny it should work pretty good...definately go with the 700r
