super 40 is too loud. american thunder too mellow. i like the delta flow 40. i had them on my monte it has a good mellow growl to it at idle and at wot is screams. and doesnt have the pingy poping sound that you here on most trucks.

Nothing beats the sound of original (not delta flow) 40 series! Just my opinion. All of them sound great. In case you didn\'t know if you go to their website you can listen to audio clips of all their mufflers. What are you wanting? Loud? Really loud? Quiet and deep?

i change my mind a little now. i just listened to all the mufflers. i like the sound of the the new super 40 but i dont like the idle of it. it has that popping sound. YUCK but revving it sounds sweet. i still like the deltaflow 40\'s best.

Do you care how loud it is inside?

Well I like the originals. I am not sure which one flows better. The super 40 are quieter inside. And the originals cost around $20 cheaper.

alot of the interior noise has to do with where the muffler is put and where the tailpipes exit. Just keep that in mind .

so in other word the muffler has to be all the way back and the tail pipe exits out the side to make it less noise.

Im just saying that there is a big difference in the interior sound of a truck or car that the exhaust stops behind the rear wheels then the ones that stop before the wheels.

The further away it exits the quieter it is.

I\'ve got a single inlet/dual outlet Flowmaster 40 on my standard cab S-10. It\'s not that loud! It\'s more of a comforting feeling to me.

I like to hear my engine going down the highway as well as in the city, and I know other people listen, too. It\'s got a great tone, and I\'ve never had anything but compliments on the sound of my exhaust.

To each his own though. It\'s just a matter of taste.

p.s. You can usually find them pretty damn cheap on ebay. I bought mine for $40... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Pretty much it is all based on varying opinions. You just have to get what you like. Delta flows do sound great. And they are quieter inside. But I like my originals. I don\'t drive my truck much so I never get tired of hearing it. Good luck finding what you want. It can be a rough decision. Check ebay whenever you decide. I found my mufflers new for about $8 cheaper apiece on there.

If you want loud, original 40\'s are for you! I have 2 40\'s on my truck, and they are pretty loud. Lots of interior noise, and I have full tailpipes over the axle.

I just installed a Magnaflow on my 04 Silverado Z71, and it has a nice sound with minor intreior noise. I have tried Dynomax super turbos(quiet, wont piss off your neighbors), Hooker max-flows(ok,too much like a glass pack sound though), Aero chambers (pretty nice muffler, sounds like a flowmaster only quieter). It is hard to compare them because they were on diferent vehicles, but on my truck the super turbos were nice. I almost cant bear my truck on the highway without the stereo 3/4 the way up with the flow 40\'s on.
