Does anybody know how much bigger a 472 Cadi engine is than a small block chevy? I have a guy who wants to give me one runs good but I dont know if it\'ll fit or if it will bolt up to a chevrolet transmission.

I think you need a BOP bell housing bolt pattern like a 200R4. A Caddy motor is big but a big block will fit in a s series. So give it a try there are a few companies that make speed parts for Caddy engines.

Yeah, i\'ve been thinkin the caddy engine could be sweet, not many around, would it be easier to go with a manual trans so I could find some kind of bellhousing to fit? would the fenderwells need to be removed, would my chevy mounts work on the Caddy, how much harder is it to cool the bigger motor? I would probably have to custom build headers i assume. Any Suggestions/Input??

Check the back issues of car craft. They had on like \"Go 10\'s for $1000\" where they put a Caddy 500ci in a Chevette. Also there was one where a guy put a Caddy 500ci in a \'69 Camaro. There are a few companies that specialize in Caddy performance parts and are helpful but I can\'t remeber the name but I know they are mentioned in the Car Craft issues. They were on a big cube Caddy kick for a while. As far as the fender wells you will probably get to keep them. Headers would deefinately be cusstom, but manifolds can work until you get enough cash to do up a set of headers.
Automatic tranny is the way to go. 200R4 and BOP 700R4\'s aren\'t too hard to find and there are also BOP pattern TH350 trannies out there.
As far as cooling I think a good 4 core radiator will be sufficient if you don\'t build the thing up too much.
You will probably have to make some motor mounts though.
Get a little car for the winter and get started on the Caddy motor conversion. Can you say \"TORQUE\"!!!!! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
