i noticed that almost no one uses a 200-4r here. me and a new member for sure. plus there is alot of talk about how weak both the 700 and 200 are. read some of this and you might change you mind if you think the 4 speed autos are weak and cant stand up to 450+hp. this is what i have been trying to say. and this cam from info supplied from artt car and tci. i payed alot for my artt car 200-4r but well worth the money. so if you wnat a 4speed auto and want 500hp it is possible without worrying about breaking the trans!!200-4r vs 700-r4 (http://www.darklair.com/monte/200.vs.700.html)

ive heard 700r4s can be built rock solid, but there expensive. seems worth it for a street driven vehicle imo, having the 4th gear would help out alot on gas

I had the 200-4r ina 1969 firebird with a 455 pontiac making big numbers and it held up fine, and it was just a junkyard transmission and had not been rebuilt. Also they are the few that have the BOP bellhousing bolt pattern. The only downfall to them is not being able to change the speedo gear on the output shaft without taking the tranny apart. Other then that it worked great until i sold the car.

hey they sound like they are really good trannies if you got alot of money to put into the darn things. but i guess if you are going to put that much into a th350 or a th400 you may as well get the700 or the 200.
