Were their ever any s10 blazers 4x4 made with a 5 spd. How much of a pain would it be to convert?

S10 Blazers with a 5spd and 4x4 were not as common as S10 pickups with a 5spd and 4x4, but they did make them (good luck finding one in a boneyard.....the one up by me, there are at least 150 S10 Blazers and out of every one I\'ve counted 2 5spd 4x4s. What are you asking in terms of converting? Converting from 2wd to 4wd or from auto to stick? Converting from 2wd to 4wd I have never done but I would imagine to be much more of a pain in the ass than it\'s worth.......just go out and buy a Blazer with 4x4.....probably even save you money on parts. As far as converting auto to stick, I am in the process of doing that now as I swap the V8 in. It really isn\'t that bad (I think anyways) You need the clutch pedal (it is part of a complete assembly with the brake pedal, you have to pull them together.......you CAN use the assembly from an S10 pickup, its the same), the clutch master and slave cylinders, all the plumbing, transmission (of course) a new flywheel and a clutch set, and depending on your application you may need a different driveshaft and different transmission crossmember and mount. Honestly, I\'m still in the middle of this, but the hardest part I\'ve had to deal with so far is installing the brake/clutch pedal assembly (not even that HARD, just a pain in the ass with the mess of wires and heater tubes and everything else under the dash....lotsa bloody knuckles) One more thing to watch out for, if you are switching to stick and pull your pedal assembly from the junk yard, make sure if you have power brakes you pull the assembly from a truck with power brakes and same goes for if it doesn\'t have power brakes, otherwise you will have to get a little creative with a grinder (like I did http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif )
