Allright, well a while back, a friend approached me about an 89 his dad is trying to sell. At the time he said 2500$ i liked the thought, but wasnt too thrilled. Well he has since dropped it to $1800. Its a really nice truck Has a custom paint job, Has the v8 swap. And i really dont think my longbed will be able to be driven this summer. So i\'m gonna need a truck to drive. My qestion, is what kind of gas mileage should i expect, It sounds like the deal of a lifetime, and it really is a nice lookin truck. Heres what he told me about it

1989 S-10 reg cab short bed

350 small block...310+HP..est 13.8 1/4time

edlebrock intake

650 electric choke carb

long tube headers (i think there headman)

turbo350 transmission

edlebrock megashifter

custom full welded 3 inch straight back dual exhaust coming out behing the wheels

roll pan

AR 15x8 black wheels with new tires all the way around(1000miles tops)

Crager drag wheels and tires 15x10 back...15x4.5 or 5 in front

full snap on soft tonneau cover

3\'\' tach

I really got my heart set on doing this big block with the long bed, And i want a reg. bed as well. I was thinking aobut buying a 2.8 truck and doin a 305/t5. But at this point, i am thinking it would be worht it to buy this truck. What kind of gas mileage should i see from the 350, and if i were to put an HO 305, in, what kind of gas milage should i see from that? its going to be more of a daily driver, but not like Every day driven. I\'m pretty sure its daily driven right now, so it should be pretty reliable

Check the rear gearing also. If you have a 373 rearend then you will turn aoubout 3000 RPM at 60MPH. I used to have one of these combos 10-12 MPG. With a 411 I predict 5-9 MPG. I now have a 350 gear in a ford 9 I get about 12 now. I predict the 342 maybe 12-15MPG.

The O/D is crucial for gas mileage.

Similar setup, with 3.50 gears I get about 11 MPG.

i\'ll have to find how what he gets. for mileage I wil probly end up getting it, because For the price, it can\'t be beat. And i need a toy for the spring/summer. I\'ve been looking for a decnt body v6 s10 around here, and most of them are at least a grand.

i just got an email back from him, and he said it gets 12-15 mpg. Wich isnt too bad for a carbed v8. Thats about what i get in my 2.8 truck now, with the exhaust leaks, and underpowered engine. So i think im definitely gonna do it
