i am putting a 350 in my 83 4 cyl s15. im using the tc mount kit from summit. since it is an old 4 cyl, the crossmember is not tapped for the 6 cyl motor mounts. can somebody please give me measurents of a picture or some way to figure out where to drill the holes? thanksundefined

Wouldn\'t it be better to use different mounts?

the correct holes should be there i belive none were tapped they used nuts from the bottom i just used a little bit larger bolt and ran them in (self-tapping) and welding around the mount to the frame for extra strength

my 1992 4-banger had the same problem ..this is how i fixed it....i bolted the converson mounts to the block and stabed the motor and lelved the motor and made sure that is where i wanted it and than i tacked welded the pads ..not the mounts but the pads to the frame and i pulled the motor back out and welded around the whole pad ...this is a lot eaiser if you take about 20 minutes and remove the front clip to get more room to work with ..the 4 cyclinder frame is a tad different than a v6 frame...but now its a nice ride

did you have any clearance problems? are the 6cyl holes in front of or behind the 4 cyl holes?

doesnt the rubber part of the 6 cyl mount bolt to the frame? is there a seperate pad? if no, what are you gonna do if the rubber dry rots or cracks, or just tears?

Mine had a four cylinder also, the holes for the six cylinder are there, they were just under all the grease and crap built up on the frame. I used a hole saw and cut a 2\" hole in the front side of the crossmember on the passenger side and a 2\" hole on the back side of the drivers side crossmember, and attached the mounts that way. i don\'t think they were ever threaded from the factory. Just put a nut on the back side. real easy with the holes i made there.

we did the same thing on the first conv. i did made holes so you could get the nut easier then we filled the holes with silicone so you couldn\'t tell

Yeah the 2.8 was available from the beginning.

I\'m lucky enough to have one in my \'82 Tahoe

BTW My V8 truck originaly had a 1.9 4 cyl in it and the 2.9 mount holes were there so I just bought some new 2.8 mounts and bolted them to the frame.

\'82 S10 1.9->305->388ci

\'82 S10 Tahoe 2.8 5 speed

franksandbeans...

I my 96 s10 had the 4cyl also... I used 2.8L frame mounts in the stock v6 locations. I posted a few pics in the underconstruction gallery. All I did was tap the v6 holes.
