OK here goes. I am gonna build a V8 swap S-10. I jhave a 1988 S-10 truck Basic Model with the 2.5 liter 4 cyl. I have a 327 HO and a th400 trans i want to swap in. I want to know these basic questions. What parts are needed to install the motor. What modifications does it take to put in the TH400. Will the th350 be better. This will be a mild street driven mostly track driven truck. I just want to owkr on the motor part now and then I will have questions about the rear and chassis.

for your truck, you\'ll need the 2.8 frame mounts, then i recommend using the stealth motor mounts made for the s10 v8 swap.

the mounts give you room to play , forward and back. these are the most commonly used mounts on the s10 v8. you can check them out on parts.s10v8.com (http://parts.s10v8.com)

400\'s take more power to turn, PERSONALLY I\'d go with a 350, its preference.. 400\'s are also a little heavier. I guess it depends on what you want it for. 400\'s were usually found behind big blocks or heavy built 4x4\'s. 400\'s also use a bolt in yoke, (usually found with 2 piece driveshafts.) If I recall correctly 400\'s were also ONLY made with 4\" tailshafts. Using a 350 with a long tail means you might be able to get away with a stock driveshaft. I had a TH400, and now I have a TH350 and I can honestly say that YES, I feel a difference.. it accelerates quicker, and just doesn\'t feel like it\'s holding me back like the Turbo 400.

Oh yea, and as far as modifications go, I had to cut the mount off my crossmember and weld it onto the opposite side. My motor sits far back, but I can still pull the distributor out without a problem (if that gives you ANY idea in relation as to how far back it sits.) http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif
