I just bought an 87 2-wd with a 350 and a T-10 manual, what I believe I have for a rear end is a 7.5 from the year. I know it is a 3.73 from the Gu6 option code. What are the diferences between the 7.5 and the 7 5/8, are they just in the axle splines? Should I find a 7 5/8 and bolt it in or can I put those internals in my 7.5? I want to run a posi and maby rear disks so which case are they common in? I plan on enventually making about 450 hp, but I always like to error on the side of saftery. Or keeping with that idea should I just install one of the 9 inch rears that my dad has collected over the years?

Thank You very much

The gm rear won\'t last like the 9 inch will

Why put money into a rear that won\'t help the value of your truck.

This is how i did it.

bone yard 9 inch drum to drum $150

Take to shop to be narrowed, axels redrilled for gm pattern $250

Detroit locker of ebay $150

4.10 gears out of Uncle Henrys $40

New drums and parts for rear brakes $150

Bullet proof rear end \"PRICELESS\"

PLUS THE TRUCK IS WORTH WAY MORE IF YOU EVER SELL IT.
