Guages?

Have any of you guys noticed that the guage clusters on the newer style dash in the 1st gen trucks are off center? They arent right in front of the column. They sit off to the side. They are also angled and not symetrical. I noticed this when I cut a perfectly square piece of metal to cover the stock guages and it didnt fit. Does anyone know why they are made this way?

Just guessing but could be because the steering column is offset to the left slightly to make room for the optional 4.3 ltr engine that was avaliable in \'88. Isn\'t that about the time the dash changed?

The dash changed in 86, the 4.3 came out in 88 http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif
