How stout is the stock driveshaft? I am putting the 355 with the tunnel ram in my pics in the truck. I may occassionally drag it and am wondering if I need to have one made. Also, does my \'92 have the beefy rear, or do I need to hunt one from a 4.3 truck? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

Why are you running a tunnel ram, if your only occationally gonna drag it?
Driveshaft depends on what tranny you originally had, what your gonna use, and your engine placement.
Unless you originally had a 4.3, you probably have the smaller 7 1/2

I have run the stock drive shaft for 13 years now and have not had any problems yet. Granted I only have about 350HP I have been know to BEAT on it from time to time. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
Mine is the original 82 1.9l/auto shaft and it fit in with out any mods. I run a 350/350 combo,
long box.
Good luck on you ventures,
Jeff.....

Thanks for the info.! Couldnt pass up the tunnel ram. Got it all, from the scoop down for a benji. I dont intend to drive the truck every day. I bought it used and have put 178k hassel free miles on it. Show & Go.

A new driveshaft is cheap insurance IMO. I got one made with larger diameter tube with thicker walls and all new u-joints and yokes for $275 at a local shop.

i\'m running a stock shaft, i have a 700R4 now but swapping over to a TH350 within the next couple weeks. I debated getting one made but i can\'t see wasting the money if you don\'t need to, sure if your running slicks everday and make 500plus horse then go for it, or you can\'t find one to fit, then you might have to have one made but my shaft is the original 2.5 4 speed shaft and i\'m making 380 to 400hp. So use the stock one with new U-joints and you\'ll be fine unless all your gonna see is race duty.
