doubtful... i have even talked to a couple local rear end shops about it. they all said it was weak. especially if youre planning at launchin at 3000.

well i have about 420hp and i launch at 2500 with drag radials with my 7 5/8\" i havn\'t had a problem yet...

but on slicks at 3000 with a little more power it might give out especially the axels... a guy here used to have a s-10 diff in his studabaker champion with a blown 350 in it and the problem he had was twisting axels... he lanched hard enough to lift the tires though

Would it hurt to put Detroit Lockers in the rear end for posi?

lt4blazer has a 7.625 with stock s-10 4.10 gears and a aluminum girdle,aprox 400hp lt1 with a 200shot of nitrous with 28x10.5 and is still alive.We have cut very very low 1.5 60fts with it

I blew up the pinion gear in a one legger 8.5\" 10 bolt w/ 2.73 gears in my 2600 lb Nova with a 300 horse 350 and TH350 tranny and P235/60R15\'s Firestone SS10\'s. So you can blow them up anytime. My 7 5/8 lasted until I pulled it out for a Currie 9\". I didn\'t want to risk it when I put on slicks. Broken axles in a GM rear suck.

If u build the 7.5\" it will harness the power, do NOT cut corners.

Your rearend may hold up it may not. I would put in some very good solid gears, the locker will help also. I would also look into better axles like the chrom moly type or forged kind. A buddy of mine put a 200 shot of Nitrous in his 99 z28 and only thing wrong that happen was he broke his right axle. He replaced it with a MOSER and hasn\'t had any trouble yet. He was pushing like 528 hp and like 600 lb ft at the wheels maybe numbers other way around. That was on a dynometer last year. but then again he didn\'t launch at 3grand or with slicks.

If you plan on doing that I would look into a stronger rear. You can buy ford 9s for real cheap. Building them to fit your s-10 is whats gonna be expensive.

Keep in mind of the F-body same rear for the most part. You will have to do a posi and a good one I would try to do all GM using the Thornbird diff from the F body\'s. Then i would be getting that cover for the bearing caps and using sysnthetics and make sure there is 0-1 backlash the less the better it will be noisy but will hold. Thats what i am putting in next.

I considered building up my 7 5/8\'\', with 31 spline axels, a powertrax locker and a set of 4:56\'s but by the time i would have gotten all that stuff it would have costed about $1500 and i would still risk breaking the housing and ruining all the the good internals i put in it. NOT worth the risk if you ask me.

i got s quote from a rearend company that says for a new 9 inch. it would cot me 2,000 ready to bolt in.

My Currie 9+ rear w/ lots of extra goodies delivered ready to bolt it was just short of $2500. Remember you\'ll need a new driveshaft made also that\'s about $250-300 at a good machine shop. You\'ll also need to re-plumb all the brake lines and might need an adjustable proportioning valve.

Just wait a while before you buy one from Curry. Im workin on a deal with a place out here to get some 8.8 fords that will be built to your specifications and will roll right under the stock suspension.

Gimme some time and ill get it all worked out.
