I have 16 in IROC wheels on my 2wd truck the 235 60 tires rub on the inside bed in corners my rear is pegleg and Ive been thinking about adding posi to my 373 gears but a blazer rear with a posi would cure both problems and be an easier swap and allow bigger tires.Has anyone done this swap and is there any major problem .Seems like a straight bolt in but I may be missing something http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I dont understand why a blazer rear would change anything, if its 2wd, then its the same as your truck rear end.

You should not have a problem running such a small tire. Sounds like your rims have too much backspacing, and are sitting too much in the wheel well.

Basically, your problem is your rims. Take a straigh edge, and measure from the very lip of the inside of the rim, to the mounting surface.

Not from the edge of the tire, but the very lip of the rim. It should measure under 5.5\". Thats the max you can get away with on a 2wd truck.

I thought someone on here mentioned that blazer rears were 2 in wider and 4x4 were 4 in wider than 2wd and by using a 2 in wider rear I could run a bigger tire and clear inner and outer wheelwells. It was something I read quite a while back but couldnt find again.I dont want different wheels so maybe some kind of spacer like Jegs sells would cure the occasional rub

ZZ4 IS CORRECT- YOUR PROB. IS WITH THE BACKSPACING ON YOUR WHEELS.2WD TRUCK&

2WD BLAZER REARENDS ARE THE SAME WIDTH.

4WD TRUCK & BLAZER REARENDS ARE THE SAME , BUT WIDER. AND THEN THE 4WD \"ZR2\"

REARENDS ARE EVEN WIDER.IF YOU DONT WANT TO CHANGE WHEELS , THEN THE SPACERS WILL CURE YOU. AS FOR THE THE BLAZER SWAP , I HAVE DONE IT ON MY 85

2WD-I SWAPPED IN 2001 BLAZER DISC BRAKE

REAREND W/POSI. THIS GOT ME A STRONGER

28 SPLINE REAREND - POSI - AND DISC BRAKES . IT IS A BOLT-IN , BUT IF YOUR TRUCK IS 82-98 AND CAME W/DRUM REAR BRAKES , YOU WILL NEED A NEW-STYLE MASTER CYLINDER THAT WILL SUPPLY ENOUGH

FLUID VOLUME & PRESSURE TO OPERATE REAR DISCS. IF YOUR TRUCK IS 98+ THEN THE MASTER CYLINDERS ARE THE SAME AND YOU CAN USE YOUR ORIGINAL ONE.

I guess its spacers till all the necessities http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif are taken care of then rear discs are on the upgrade list -For sure these toys are never completed until sold or owner dies http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

4X4 REARS ARENT NECESSARILY POSI- YOU

CAN CHECK THIS A NUMBER OF WAYS THOUGH.PHYSICALLY CHECKING IT OR ID TAG ON THE REAREND COVER (G60 OR LIMITED SLIP) IMPRINTED ON THE TAG OR BY CHECKING

THE 3 DIGIT CODES IN THE GLOVEBOX (G60).

ALL 4X4 REARENDS ARE 2\" WIDER THAN 2WD.

4wd rear ends are 2\" per side wider...they\'re 4\" wider overall.

And, your not more likely to find a posi in a 4wd truck either.

The posi code is G80 too, not 60.

Damn.

I\'m glad i read this thread. I was going to buy a rear end off of a 4x4 blazer this week for $150.00 It has both the GU6 and G80 option, with disc brakes. I guess it won\'t work on my 2 wheel drive truck......

Oh well. Guess i\'ll keep looking.

It will work, you will just need the correct backspacing on your rims to make the tires tuck in correctly. If you use the wheels you had on your 2wd, they will be sticking out of the fenders 2\" more on each side. So you could use it if you want but you will need new wheels, i guess you might as well just find one from a 2wd with the same options though since you havent bought it yet.
